Went for a walk in the Goyt valley. Struggled to find the car park we needed to be in and therefore just did a nice 5 mile linear walk, not realising that we were actually in the right place, albeit in a different car park, and had inadvertently walked half the route without realising. Was an amazing day all round but I'm somewhat frustrated that we were so near yet so far from completing the walk we'd intended to do! The sun was phenomenal!

Ah drone man. He's on there regularly and his right to fly his drone to film nature and scare it away trump's everyone else's right to a quiet walk in the country. He lives not far from me and is pretty much despised in the neighborhood. A couple of years ago he decided to hover above my gardenfor a while, presumably to have a good nose as to what's going on. After a brief chat, he hasn't done it again.

We didn't see the drone operator or I'd have had more than a brief chat with him/her.

Even if he/she hadn't chased the deer it was frightening the birds and spoiling everyone else's peaceful enjoyment in general.

I might borrow my mate's air rifle and go "clay" drone shooting if I see it again!

I arranged to meet two friends for the first time in over 12 months for a walk on the Chase this evening.

Whilst we were being very quiet watching a herd of deer grazing some idiot sent a drone up and chased them all the way down Oldacre valley.

Why are some people such inconsiderate idiots?
Aaaaah , that's why they suddenly started belting back ! We had been watching them , loads of them , going along the valley. Never seen so many together . Then suddenly saw them all running scared back in the opposite direction.

Also saw another herd a bit further over. Luckily when they crossed over the chase road ( near Fredas Grave) the 3 idiotic speeding car drivers together hadn't reached that part by then.

We stood for ages enjoying watching the deer and pheasants this evening.

I remember, some time in the mid-80s, meeting the most fearsome wind conditions up there.

On the curve of the old railway here, the wind, screaming up the valley, hit the embankment and got a further upward impetus. This imparted so much lift that it was impossible to maintain footing, there just wasn't enough weight to provide the friction to oppose the drag force. It was necessary to crawl the length of the embankment in order to make progress - and to avoid being blown down the uphill side of the embankment, which, to be fair, was probably a survivable event.

I'm a bit of a fair weather walker. Now i feel somewhat vindicated! Amazing over there today!

I ventured out on the bike to record what I had anticipated being a much redder sunset - nice enough, but could have been better.

Might get to see son (in our support bubble) for the first time in ages , next week on his week off. :) He's booked himself a Covid test for Monday beforehand with him working with so many people, so that he can come a bit more reassured that he isn't going to be killing us off. Fingers crossed it comes back negative...

Hopefully a nice week so that we can go walking over the chase while hubbys working.

Now please tell me my neighbour is wrong saying we have snow forecast ! :hmm:

The drone has to be in unaided line of sight, so he should be nearby. It must also have the operators I'd on the drone, so if you knock it out of the sky you can trace the guy easily.

Pretty sure you can't fly within 50m of people either without further certification, could be worth filming how close the drone gets to you.

Looking for a set of hex shank wood bits but having no luck at all, does anyone on here have any idea where I could find some?
Tried the usual B&Q , Screwfix route.

Booked an appointment at Holmcroft this morning and waiting for a phone call from the doc in this two-hour window has given me more anxiety than the thing I called about... XD

Thanks for that but looking for a smaller size shank for use in cordless drill bit holders. PITA if driving pilot holes then following up with a screw not to be able to quickly change bits. Should've made myself clearer.

This is why I have 2 cordless drills :D

Actually thats a lie, I have 4 plus 2 corded, but I have 2 main ones!
