I'd still love to know their plan here, they have no planning permission to turn it into anything but a shopping centre, and they seem happy with their rent diminishing every month ? Strange business plan.

And it looks like the markets going so will they buy/take that site as well and do a very lage scale rebuild/refit to convert to housing/leisure ?,

It’s commercially sensitive, I’d guess the old co-op or m&s.
To be honest both of those building are in very poor condition and amount required to bring them up to spec could rule them out, considering there are so few stalls i wonder if there is space either at riverside mall or even madford

I thought the whole run from market square north was earmarked for housing

New Tillington Hall tube station will have three destinations, the not so old magistrates court site, to be known as the Bagnall Quarter and Crabbery St Station. Single track and at a depth of 25 metres, it is expected to open in 2029. The final line will emerge just west of Stafford Station, to be renamed Stafford International . All non electric cars will be banned from the town centre. Cyclists will have priority over all traffic and pedestrians. As they do now

I've heard the actual refrigeration units are actually built into the building in the old m&s, making it costly, and potentially hazardous to remove, potential bulldoze and start again I reckon.

On a totally unrelated note, looks like someone's took on the Edinburgh Wool Mill Place, the old suit place opposite McDonald's is having asbestos removed, so possibly a change of use there , and a bidding war seems to be underway for the tavern.

They wouldld still have to be removed prior to the demolition, which as you said, is costly and hazardous.

My place of work has had large walk in refrigeration units removed to make way for Argos, it can be done, either way.

Wouldn't food based market traders just be able to use them if the market is to move to the old M&S (which I think is more likely then the Coop department store) - you wouldn't have to rip them out at all?

Depends if they're still in working order, I find things tend to break when you stop using them for long periods of time.

I'd heard and so many comments of such certainty that people knew what was happening with the market, I asked a trader directly.
The direct response was - "We don't know yet and we can't declare we are going into xyz building as no purchase of buildings has been made. That also means things won't happen quickly."
The most honest comment I've heard so far.
