Now I'm beginning to understand.
Intervening would have been a rather foolhardy thing to do and getting the shit kicked out of you and probably catching something off "the two drunken vermin" could easily explain your hostility towards the pub.
I've never seen anything remotely like that but suspect you might have been out on a Friday or Saturday evening when "shit behaviour" is hardly unexpected in any town centre.
That incident isn't grounds for closing a pub.
We were suprised last time in town to see bouncers outside. Never used to see them in the good old days of Ray Till running the Coach & Horses.
But then soon realised why when we walked back past later in the evening.

Off for a rare night out in town tonight. Walking down there in my comfiest boots , but hoping to find another means back rather than a drunken stagger all the way back mostly uphill. Fingers crossed for an elusive taxi to be hanging around at the right time.....

It was on a Wednesday, early evening. Not that the day of the week excuses this sort of behaviour in any way. It's also the sort of behaviour I've witnessed from there many, many times over the years.

I never go anywhere near Stafford town centre on a Friday or Saturday night.

I'm not suggesting there's any any "excuse" for "shit behaviour" but it's been on the increase ever since Thatcher said "And, you know, there's no such thing as society". Thankfully it usually only harms those actually participating in it, not those sat witnessing it from nearby more up-market premises.
The older I get the more I try to avoid the likelihood of "shit behaviour" which is why I also avoid Stafford town centre on a Friday or Saturday night, except very occasionally walking home from the railway station and maybe stopping for a pint, and avoid Wolverhampton on match days.

There were Fokkers about for Round 2, but, being Dutch, it meant there was a greatly reduced likelihood of them being used against Spitfires.

If only Bücker had made more substantial armed aircraft.

I’m sure those Fokkers were Messerschmitts

Been waiting ages in taxi queue by casa, no taxis . Cannock bus sailed past stop full pelt. Phoned all the taxi companies and none available.
Had to nip back into The Sun , that we left earlier, for another wee

Some pubs get as much custom on Friday and Saturday night as the rest of the week and it's the same with taxis.

Got chatting to some Rugeley girls in queue and offered them a lift in our taxi as no more in sight. So said Wildwood , then onto Rugeley as we got in.
So we paid ours and they were going to continue on their journey
Having a right good laugh on the journey (prevented me feeling travel sick as well).
Got out and wished them a happy rest of their lives...
Taxi man was like " What? You don't know each other then??? "

We all got our flu jabs today, six weeks to wait for our covid booster. Mrs Noah's arm is rather tender but her son & I don't have any problems - yet.
My arm started aching the day after the flu jab for a couple of days . OK since then though.
About 5 weeks now til our Covid boosters.

Just had to pay £30 cash for my doctor to scribble on my holiday insurance claim form for my shoulder. I had to make a trip to Rising Brook to collect it because they don't take card and they wouldn't post it.

It's taken them 5 weeks to complete and then I spent 30 minutes waiting at the surgery for the receptionist to find some change and write a receipt.

Not impressed.

Give people a self-regulated, legally enforceable closed shop and this sort of thing is always a risk.

My mother needed a form signing by her GP in Ireland. I dropped it in one morning with "I'll be going past again this afternoon, if that's any use?" The response was, "Well, if you could hang on for a couple of minutes, I'll get him to do it now, when he's finished with the current patient?"

No money changed hands.

Your time is of no importance. Only theirs matters. Has always been the same with the NHS.
