I wonder how much the sales of electric cars will rise over this.
Not much as this is only a temporary blip.
Electric car owners won't be so smug if there are electricity shortages this winter.
It's a pity hydrogen electric cars haven't tacken off as they refuel in the same time as filling with petrol and diesel and have similar range at zero carbon just emit small amounts of water.

Tupolev converted a Tu 154 to run on hydrogen in 1988, and later on natural gas.

Only the additional vent at the top of the tail and a few missing windows gave externally visible clues, but there was some disruption to the rear seating arrangements in the passenger cabin.

This, of course, was via combustion, rather than a fuel cell device.

Neighbour came back an hour or so ago and said Wolves Road is carnage. Assuming due to people accessing the garage

Plenty in Chester, but we were just off the motorway. 2 places with no queues, in fact only a few cars in each.

That market is supply-constrained. Has been for years. So the effect on sales in the short-term can only be minor.

Large scale clean hydrogen production via electrolysis is a long, long way off. It requires an abundance of renewable electricity for a start. Until then, steam reforming from natural gas is likely to remain the main means of production. And that means the vehicles are both significantly more dirty than battery electric vehicles, and more vulnerable to gas shortages (the cause of the potential electricity issues).

BEVs are likely to fare better than HFCVs through the current problems. It's unlikely that we would see a situation where there's an electricity shortage resulting in rationing, without hydrogen production being affected much sooner and much more severely.

Got less than 1/4 tank of diesel left. Just tried every station in town. Only place with any fuel is Esso at Rising Brook but they only have petrol and no diesel.

This is going to be an ‘interesting’ week trying to visit clients and do deliveries with a lack of fuel.

If you're desperate Stafford services has diesel although southbound has a £30 limit.
Morrisons stone also had some earlier.

The reservists are going to deliver fuel I believe. But guess what most of the reservists who can drive HGVs do?

It makes you wonder what the hell next?. The foolishness of the British public has created another crisis where there wasn't one in the first place!. The selfishness of this nation truly astounds me. I am in the same boat, have 1/4 tank of diesel in the car & absolutely refused to buy into the panic buying. I am now sitting here hearing every fuel station in Stafford is dry & trying to plan how I am going to get through the working week!!!.

If Sandon Road Shell is reported as having any fuel, do be aware that the approach from the town side is currently flooded, as usual.

It appears to be passable, but it's borderline...

On Saturday, as I walked past, it appeared to be out of fuel, but, with the shop still functioning, it appeared to be 'open' and a constant stream of traffic was passing through to check the pumps.

And you need a bit more than just an HGV licence to deliver fuel via a tanker vehicle.

Hubby rang to say the Sandon road by the garage was going over again , but cars were still able to get into the garage and wasn't any queues. I said probably no queues because they'd probably got no fuel , but he reckons they don't have the petrol signs lit up when they have no fuel (don't know if he's right or not , he's most likely totally wrong! ) and they were lit up today at 8am ...

The sign was lit on Saturday, when there appeared to be no supplies available for sale.
