Anyone eaten at The Telegraph Inn lately?

The reason I ask is that a few people have told me that they have a bar menu with meals for about £2...and this includes things like rump steak! I've just looked at the menu on their website and can't see any mention of such ridiculously cheap grub. £9.95 for 2 courses isn't bad, though it's a very limited menu.

Is this something they have on a board in the pub but not on the website, or is it a load of old codswallop? If it's true, is the food any good?!

i just emailed the Telegraph to find out more about the offer, was very impressed by a speedy response within 10 mins of my email to them

below is what they said:

The offer is any dish in the menu is 1.50. Its mostly home cooked. We have had nothing but good comments from anyone you has eaten with us.

The menu has been the popular we are extending the time we run the menu and the dishes we offer from next monday. At the moment its 12 til 6.

so hopefully it will be available until a little later next wednesday..

ive been in there of late and can confirm the £1.50 meal deal running 12-6pm mon-sat. just heard that from next week (monday 23rd i guess) its extending till 8pm. dont know if that includes saturdays or not sorry!

they have a menu of the food they do for this deal towards the back of the main lounge (right hand side as you go in) on the board that hangs down about 1ft from the ceiling.

4oz steak or 4oz gammon'egg with chips and peas, £1-50 - haven't explored the menu beyond this yet but it has chilli, curry, fish n chips and other stuff too. pretty sure they do other choices than chips, and its actually £1-50 a course, so you can do starter / pudding too for £1-50 a pop.

it is good food too, much better than the impression that the tag 'pub meal for £1-50' implies. ill eat there again

hope this info helps :)

If it's edible at that price I will be impressed, but seeing as the Telegraph is at the end of my street and the recommendation is good I will definitely be trying this out!

Arf! Yeah I think you have yourself a date there sailor
I know the chef so I can definitely recommend the food. I haven't been there yet myself so if anyone wishes to make a similar offer to above... (We could do the Orange Wednesday thing after too if you like ;P)

It all sounded great until that bit above :/
erm... eh?

i am looking for the sarcasm but i don't see it, which is a shame. i can only conclude you are happy to accept the information i provided in good faith, but have some reason to not want to go to the said same establishment because i might be there?

could it be you have some issue with me? i don't want to drag this off topic, but i am curious. my pm box is always open if you would care to elaborate.

Could I venture that he may be suggesting that your omission of the apostrophe and the capital 'I' has changed the word "I'll" into the word "ill", thus causing mild amusement?

I thought about letting it go on and opening a book on who was going to come back in from the car park. If the Scorpion hadn't come back we might have needed this dispute to liven things up a bit.

(sorry gk141054, honest mistake)
Sorry about that, my attempt at a bit of light hearted humour (not a great attempt I will admit)....

Gramaisc is correct, I was jesting with the fact that you said "ill" and not "i'll"

I'll get me coat :D
