So is having a Burger King and KFC the mark of a town's excellence? Does that really add to the quality and value of our environment, does it? Surely it is cheaper and just as easy to make food that makes you fat and feel sick at home? There must be no end of mass produced, low nutritional value meat products available at all good supermarkets...
 You can't argue with progress, as much as the more civilised among us may feel that what Stafford is really missing is a lentil-heavy vegetarian wholefood cafe....
Now your talking!

But seriously, has anyone seen "Supersize Me"? This surely is not a culture we sensible Brits should be adopting, is it?

'we sensible brits' oh right so we're all lumped together now and if not deemed sensible are we not included in some 'master race?.....

Stuff BK (although it's good). What we really need is a Nando's / all you can eat Chinese Buffet. ;) And a Wimpy of course.

That'd give the town a bit of variety and something different from Bella Pasta / Pizza Express.

We have an all you can eat chinese, just a shame all the food there tastes the same! We also have a mexican (which I'm yet to visit), isn't an independant better than another chain?

yes, i'm sure everyone's seen it by now.. people who love to Rage Against The Machine™ cite it as a reason to never eat mcdonalds again, whereas for everyone else watching it just makes them want a bigmac lol..

for some reason, i doubt these BK rumours are true.. i've never been a big BK fan - i think they're lovely, and never had anything bad to say about them, but i can live without them.. that being said, i'd love to see one in stafford, if only to provide more fast food options/competition.. and i'd love to try that 6-pack of mini-burgers they've been touting recently!

this coming from a man who has more than a passing penchant for mcflurries! they've got gelatin in, you know ;)

Front page news in tonight's Express and Star confirms Boots opening up in the old Carpet Right store. Bad news though for Burger King fans, as rumours that they may be moving into the Flower House building are "completely unfounded" according to John Maddison who works for the company which manages the retail park. :(

Rumours started on this website and read by lazy reporters who then write articles based on what they see on here....

Since when has it ever mattered to the gutter press whats true and what isn't.....

In fact barefaced lies are preferred if they are controversial enough to sell more newspapers... :D

did you hear this from maddison yourself/by proxy, or is this quote from the E&S article?

edit: ah right, it's from the article - online version here..

in fairness, it's not that lazy.. real lazy journalism would be just repeating something from the forum verbatim as fact.. here, they have taken rumours from here, presented them as rumours, and then got a statement from someone officially connected to the retail park regarding the accuracy of these rumours!

Ha - "lazy" journalism. I wonder how many people on here would be prepared to work up to 16 hours a day for £15 grand a year, all in a dying industry with more redundancies being announced every day?
Judging from the Black Hawk Down DVD cover on his profile pic, I expect the poster's only experience of work so far has been a paper round. But what's with the bizarre paranoia about copyright infringement on his Stafford Forum postings?! "express written permission" - LOL!

It's a fair point tbh :D I once posted on here and had what I had written posted in a newspaper and it was twisted to sound bad too - Made going into work interesting that night ! :P

I don't care though.

Honestly? And after all I've said about Florence - still, to be libelous it has to be untrue, yes?

Well, quite a controversial post for your first time, RobertF1982! ;)

I believe gk141054's signature is as a result of more than paranoia, though. He made a post on The Forum a while back, asking for help with regards to a break-in at his employer's premises. Next thing you know, he had the local press on the phone asking him for more details and threatening to quote his posts without his consent! I believe it actually got him in a bit of hot water, and thus the "disclaimer" signature was borne.

Nice to see you've got stuck in right away. Hopefully you'll have a good look around and see that this place is generally a lot more light-hearted, and join in the fun :)

For the record: Neither of those statements are true.

Hello everyone - yes Mr Admin, it does seem to be a easygoing place, though these debates on the Lunar Scorpion's work/life balance appear to get a little heavy at points...

Re gk141054 and his run-in with the local press - the thing is that once you stick information on a publically-viewable forum like this one, it's in the public domain so you can't stop journalists from picking things up. It's a bit like shouting about something in the Market Square and then complaining if you get recorded and played on Radio Stoke.
I very much doubt his disclaimer would carry any weight in court to be honest but it's not on if the meaning of your posting is distorted, as in Tumbleweed's case.
I do the job myself, as I'm sure everyone can tell (though not for a Stafford paper) and I think, like the police, we often all get tarred with the same brush.
Nice to meet everyone anyway.

Howdy Rob, you certainly seemed to be in the know with the law and such things, but surely such a legal eagle as yourself would have done your homework with regard to folk spouting off in the Market Square as from my observations they are usually well meaning but babbling mentalists and would welcome further exposure on Radio Stoke. Have a nice day now......
