Well this is interesting... I have started using firefox 3.5 on my mac and frankly its awesome. safari for windows sucks and is no better on the mac (unless IE has been displaying things for years incorrectly and only now i'm seeing pages how they're meant to be - i don't think so) so I have installed FF. Suprisingly all the fingure gestures work natively and very well, in fact the three finger ones work BETTER than in safari !?

Suffice to say I will continue to use FF on the mac until something makes me chose otherwise but as safari is the only real alternative it will take a lot.

Still using IE on my pc though, very happily.

lol oh ok you find internet explorer is ok for certain things but it is the most insecure yet people seem to think wow my pc came with an internet browser i will use this before even looking at the other options available however that does cover those new to computers but there is so many other options including netscape lol
If you feel the need to use netscape for ANYTHING then you should have your interwebs disconnected.

Browsing: You're doing it wrong.

Lol

what are these "finger gestures" you speak of? i've heard apple banging on about them before, but they sound like the sort of thing that wouldn't interest me so i've never looked into them.. if you're using them in real world scenarios though, that would suggest they're more than just marketing hyperbole..

They're only useful on the books DB, of course you have three buttons on the mouse and an omnidirectional scrollwheel which takes the place of them. They are incredibly useful though, and yes I use them all the time. I'm particularly impressed with the three and four finger gestures I can do on the MBP, i couldn't do that on my older book.

For example now if i wish to see my desktop i swipe four finger downward on the (amply sized) pad. Up brings my windows back. Also using the same technique but brushing up instigates expose.

I can use three fingers for dragging and also for navigating around folders.

Two fingers are useful for zooming / panning / rotating pretty much anything. Also for scrolling.

I can assure you though that they are all very useful once you have got used to them, when using windows on a laptop I find myself using gestures all the time only to be disappointed lol

No doubt MS will produce something similar soon once they have worked out how to do it without creating a copyright issue. I welcome their attempts too, windows 7 seems almost incomplete without it.

EDIT: Admin, any chance of moving this post and the preceeding one to the apple dilema thread? Seems it would fit in there more.

Arghhhhhhhhhhh! Yet another update has just installed itself, yet again FF has become less stable than a jam jar of nitroglycerine :(

BAD mozilla!

I have stopped updating for now. I'm using 3.0.1.5 because it plays nicely with all my toys. :D
When they make the latest version play well with others I may update; but until then no a chance.

i've totally gone off firefox recently, it just seems bloaty as feck.. takes forever to do anything, and crashes more often than an F1 renault driver..

i used chrome fulltime on the PC now, and reckon i might go back to safari on the mac..

I am sticking with IE on the PC and firefox for now on the mac, i canny stand safari....at all!

Is chrome better these days? I remember having slow-down problems with it when I first tried it.

In fact thinking about it, so did you?

Chrome rocks... used it since day one and never looked back.... can't believe anyone wouldn't use it. Never been slow for me... only thing I miss is addons like XMarks and SageToo in FF.

I use both. Chrome for heavy ajax applications such as farcebook and firefox for everything else. firefox has some great developer tools
