How did you find out about this?
A letter came out of school with them today.
I can also confirm this. All 4 of our kids at John Wheeldon came home with the same letter.

It just basically confirmed that there will not be any more school closures as the health authorities have said it's now too widespread anyway, and that if you were in any doubt at all just to keep kids off school as a safety precaution & seek medical advice if you thought you needed to.

My GP has diagnosed me as Swine Flu today and I'm on Tamiflu. Can't see anyone for next 5 days. Does that mean the wife should leave me?! lol ;)

He's not in hospital. He's in the bosom of his ( admittedly enormous ) family, and manfully fighting a world-wide pandemic single-handedly on our behalf. The man deserves Lucozade.

When I said enormous, I obviously meant the family, and not the bosom...

Well, luckily for you, I'm just brewing some fresh. Shall I shove it through your letter-box in a few minutes, to avoid the possibility of contamination?

My sons school has a confirmed swine flu case today (John Wheeldon Primary).
@Florence, you're absolutely right, I had flu last year, if someone says "I think I've got the flu?" they haven't.
Anyway symptoms are varying as initially swine flu had a fever with it but recent cases are reporting that this is not so. Case in point the sad death of the six year old girl at the weekend. Just keep sneezing into tissues and washing your hands people.
Hi Miss T, Hi all....
This 6 year old girl had other things going on as well i belieave. The symptom of a fever still remains a crucial part of diagnosis for swine flu. This flu is very similar to seasonal flu and most people suffer the same as you would with seasonal flu. Whats the difference? Well this one seems to be spread a little easier, is prevelant now when flu usually is very low numbers and is affecting more younger people than is usual. This could be because older people have lived through a pandemic of a similar flu and so have some level of resistance.

It is also well worth remebering, although there are high profile cases of deaths with swine flu as a factor in one way or another, the number of deaths compared to infected people is still fewer than the amount of deaths we see from seasonal flu for same number of infected people. And finally, those people we see who have died are similar to those cases we would expect to see from seasonal flu...yes thats right, we see young fit healthy people dying of normal, seasonal flu.

Thanks all, and gramaisc NO THANKS you can keep yer excrement!! lol

Big thing to remember is not to panic. Most people can have it and shrug it off without treatment anyway. Ok so i've got it but I'm an AT RISK one anyway as I have Asthma, and there are 8 under this roof - the only other one affected being my wife who had a bit of a sore throat for all of 24 hours and that was it. The kids are around me non stop yet they're all fine.

So if you have a low immune system or suffer asthma etc, be more careful... otherwise you shouldn't worry too much.

:)
