Hi guys,

Does anyone know anything about a bonfire and fireworks display at the RAF camp? I have heard it rumoured but can find any details so any help would be gratefully recieved.
If not does anyone know of any other fireworks suitable for small children?

Many thanks

Yeah there is one at the rugby club but its on Sat night and we already doing something. My little girls nursery were going to do one on Thursday. have done for the last few years and always good, but they had to cancel at last minute leaving me with a very excited little girl who had been promised fireworks.

So what your saying then Tek, is that i have got to go for a drink (well be rude to just have one, supose will have to have a few)in the spit and saw dust, things i do for my family.

Yeah, but as you order the chinese from the bar, you have to wait an extra pint for them to cook it :D

Come on guys - surely SOME other places / pubs have got something on on Thursday night?? My mo-in-law wants one to go to but the MOD one doesn't sound suitable as I know she will want a drink or 10.

Did you already rule the rugby club out?

Rugby Club is Saturday. She wants something to do on Thursday night (bonfire night itself although it seems nowhere apart from the raf camp is treating it as so)

Seen a poster for the one at the RAF on Thursday night, and for anyone else interested it does say that "hot food and refreshments will be available". Maybe not alcohol, but at least there's something!!
Mother in law now happy to go so thanks all

Anyone know anymore about the display at Longford Park tonight, struggling to find any information about it other than 7pm start and cost. Would like to know times of bonfire lit and fireworks.

Also, just to add to the list, Weston Park's display is tonight. Bonfire lit at 5:30, Fireworks at 6pm and 7.30pm. £15 per car.

Last time we went to the RAF display there was alcohol available, mainly cans of beer/cider and it was very cheap!

Yup, RAF had beer available :D
Was £1 for a can, or £1.50 for a bottle of Bulmers. REALLY can't complain! Fireworks were great, and they had a proper bonfire. Cost us a fiver for 2 adults and 2 kids (one under 5), absolute bargain compared to Shugborough.

However, the food was a massive letdown. The sausages were crap, the burgers merely a slightly warmer layer of matter between the bread. No baked potatoes either, but at least there was lots of sauce to give it some flavour. Tasted dire, and cost £3 for a cheeseburger. I would have been much happier had the army had control of the food too, rather than contracting it out. Maybe they contributed towards the fireworks, I dunno, but I bet if they'd done the food themselves they could have made a packet and still sold something worth eating. I'd rather give them my money, and its not like they don't have the facilities!

So if anyone on the camp is reading this, PLEASE do your own food next time. Dishing out ration packs would have been better :D
