Vidal Lounge Mill St

I spotted the new sinage too - seems an odd name for a place, maybe it's a Gore Vidal themed bar, with drinks named after his literature ...

The lights went up last night. They hope to be open on Saturday.

I had a bit of a look in this morning. They are finishing off an outdoor patio area up the side, where the bins used to be. It all looks like it will be very swish. Also failed to ask about the etymology..

Twas open on Saturday, no bitter available so had a fairly tasteless pint of Grolsh blonde. Atmos was reasonable as a sort of Casa-lite place, ok but nowt special.

I am always amused by the young

Particularly when they get excited about a new bar opening - the place to be - etc etc - the problem with this theory is obvious to an old soak like myself. It is a small town, so even if the lights are groovy, and the lino jazzy its still the same faces..

I hope it does well of course - I am looking forward to what Stafford makes of a Gastro Pub . . . I think it could be quite amusing..

Free range? how much? hahaha!

We asked someone about the name, and he just shrugged and said the bosses thought it sounded good.

Just passed by. I was always wary of places with dark windows. More of a nightclub feel but serving coffee cake etc from 8.30am? Might pop in tonight for a swift one.

After the PIE meeting myself, the PandA man and the Vault couple descended on the Vidal Lounge. It's very 'modern'inside, swish and monochrome. We had an interesting discussion with the manager as we left and a very positive chap he is, too. I hope all goes well for the future..

Swung by for an early doors pint last night, spotted four or five lagers and a cider on tap. I asked the (rather decorative) young bar lady if there was any beer on offer and was offered Carling Black Label. Cue a sharp exit to The Sun.
Really smart place though, very swish, hope they do well as I would any new business but I think I'll leave it to the towns lager drinkers.

I saw a steady stream of business mes going in around lunch time, the board outside said they did 'italian coffee*' and sandwiches, always nice to have a new place for lunch

* Goldilox & I worked with someone who ran a branch of Nero in Liverpool, since she knew nothing about coffee it was one of the job's greatest pleasures hearing her tell fairly clued up and well meaning customers who asked where the Italian Blend coffee was grown be given the reply 'Oh, somewhere in Italy, maybe Tuscany'

Popped in last night with Gramaisc, Vault Girl & Boy after the PIE club. The place looks like it could be in a city centre, swish , modern, contemporary and to a certain extend and people, stylish. As Trumpet mentioned, no beer, just lagers. They should however know that coffee beans don't grow in Italy, there is an Italian roast. Anyway, wish them good luck. The manager seemed a very nice chap and pointed out that there is still some work to be done and they will do it as they go.

Not always - I went in with the PandA Man + Vault Girl & Boy after the first PIE Club night. It just didn't seem 'Stafford' to me, if you know what I mean?..
