Hi All

As said above we're close now and things are getting sorted. I'm making an effort over the next few days to push this and get it sorted so its a success. Myself have been rather tied up with different issues so are back on the case. It's anticipated that there will be some tickets on the door but if interest ramps up we dont know how many. We do have a reserved list for those have given us their names and we can keep them on the door. The room has a 200 capacity and we are hoping for a busy debut night and have everything crossed.
We also have a prospective 6th act but are awaiting confirmation. Watch this space!!!!!

I'll be there, at a wedding reception. Have they got two function rooms?
Yeah, the front right hand side room is where the reception will be. The back right hand side room is where our gig is.

Hope to see some of you popping down tomorrow night, looking forward to it :)

£3.00 a ticket, can reserve with me if you want to guarantee your attendance (Pm).

Thanks to those who've shown their support, bought tickets, and will undoubtedly be enjoying some quality acoustic acts tomorrow night. The room's bar will be serving till midnight for buying in your drinks :)

A very good night by all accounts. Nothing but positive feedback from thos who attended and all the acts enjoyed themselves. We had to get tickets printed to cover the room capacity of 200 and we laid tables and chairs out for around 80-90 people. To stand there and see all the seats occupied was fantastic. We think our attendance was 97 and to think this was our first attempt, there was a comedy night on in town, England were live on the box & Cartoon Kings were playing at The Swan, we think we did pretty damn well!!!!!

By the feedback we had we will be doing more nights and maybe switching rooms at the club as the lighting and acoustics are better in the front. Thanks to anyone who attended, played, helped spread the word or showed an interest.

And as an added comment - one of our acts, a certain young man called Alex Tonkinson was outstanding. Only 17 and only did 4 tracks but every person in the room approved and applaudedhim. I guess you could say watch this space. If we gave him his first stage in the town im gonna be one very happy man if he makes it!!!

Wasps - feel my wrath!
Would echo the comments above , a very pleasant evening was had . Would like to make a couple of observations if I can regarding the evening

Initial feeling was that the atmosphere was a little "village hall" , seemed a wide expanse of space and far far too well lit everywhere! . Would suggest more subtle lighting for the next one if possible .

Felt that the idea of tables and chairs was good , its nice to sit and enjoy acoustic sets but that there was too much distance between the performers and the audience . Kind of looses the "intimate" feeling associated with acoustic evenings and does not enable much interraction between performer and audience . It could be argued that there would be no room to dance etc ..but not too many dancers generally found at acoustic nights I think .
Perhaps a happy medium could be achieved between the two ? again just my thoughts Personally would prefer to walk further to the bar rather than be further from the stage ..but thats just my personal pref :)

As said nice evening and will be looking forward to the next one

cheers

Jheych, thanks for coming along! The room has spot lights on the ceiling that point down at the stage (but they didn't work) so we had to leave the end main lighting on - not ideal we know. Next time we'll have sorted the issue, we've already spoke to a few people about getting some decent lights down there. The venue is a big room (I don't think it ever looked empty but yes there was space) and we had allocated over 100 tickets, with plenty coming on the door, and 120 is all we could have allocated in total in the room next door that is smaller which would make probably a better atmosphere - but we have had a few ideas, and we'll sort out which room is most suitable to create the best atmosphere and night possible for the next one. Cheers for your feedback.

I was at the wedding in the front room but managed to poke my head around the door for a couple of minutes towards the end of the night.
Don't know who was performing at that point but if they were representative of the general level of talent I reckon everyone had a good night.
Will echo most of Jheych's comments regards lighting and lack of intimacy, but having said that well done on your first event, hope all goes well for future events. Hopefully see you at the next one.

Cheers for the feedback, glad you rated who was on, see you at the next one :)

Basically, we've decided to organise a Live Acoustic Music Night, which hopefully will be a regular event in the future.
And, for that matter, whatever happened to this?

To my eternal shame i missed this one, but i was kind of hoping i wouldn't miss the next one.

Alright Withnail,

Sorry for slow reply, just due the busyness of myself and Gilb, we haven't found time to sort another out yet, however we hope that this year we'll be able to get some nights on, especially now we have some really good acts who want to be involved, and after positive feedback from the last gig. We know what to improve on and we will look into doing another soon I'm sure,

Edit: Will keep everyone updated when we're working on something!

Cheers!
