Hi guys,

My wife is now in bits as she has just has a text from a friend saying a 2 yr old boy has been kidnapped today by a man in a grey suit in Marting Street.
I have heard texts like this before and all turned out to be hoaxes so before it gets too out of hand can anyone confirm or deny this?

If it is true it might be connected with this the police I saw earlier - link in the post below

HI guys,

Had a brain wave and called the police to ask them. There is a small garin of truth in this. There was an incidence in town but it was a domestic thing, they wouldnt tell me all the details so dont know much else but it certainly wasnt a random kidnapping and no children are at risk, either the child at centre of this or anyone elses so i am really sorry if i have caused any concern to anyone

I know a 2 yr old child was involved but 25 minutes to raise the alarm, get police on the scene stopping cars and even get the helicopter out seems pretty fast work! glad he was found safe and sound!

I was just messaged and asked to pass this on

please tell everyone you know a 2 year old has just been taken from martin street in stafford a couple of mins ago by a male with grey suit please keep your eyes open.

I have no idea how creditable this is, it was apprently sent out via a store watch radio.

But for now lets ashume its legit and pray for the safe return

Still circulating...work colleague just text me. I hope that chidl realises the trouble he's caused ! :eng101:
That Child is apparently a 2 year old. I highly doubt anyone is going to blame them for any trouble caused. As long as they are safe and sound.

I got the same text last night about 430pm, and wondered if it was a joke, but the then dithered for a couple of monutes, before deciding even if was a joke originally and turned out to be true I would feel awful if I hadn't passed it on..
I suppose in one way, its good to see that the power of modern media/communication to help in instances where children do go missing etc to hopefully prevent anything serious happening

the child was took by his father from the mother in town. we were stopped outside new look and our pushchair checked along with my partners identity and childs identity. the police told us what had happened. it is very scary but wish people would get their facts straight before they alert everyone they know via text message that there is a kidnapper in town. i think if people were aware it was a domestic case there would have been less panic. atleast now the child is back safe with his family.

Hello Ra ra ra

Toatlly agree with your point about just firing texts without getting their facts, took me one 2 minute call to the police to find out at 13.32 what the problem was. But by this time my wife and many other parents were in a big flap. The message we got said

"Beware, dont let your children out of your sight even at home as there is a kidnapper around in stafford. He has already taken a child from the street in town."

Now had the message said "A child has gone missing from town please be on the look out for...." i would of thought it a great use of modern techno but as it is i am rather annoyed at what was sent out.
