Lee Downes is a good bloke. Stafford based. Built my single storey extension a few years ago. 01785 662645 or 07970 205022. Whether or not he'd do smaller jobs I'm not sure, but I'd happily recommend him.

I've got the Downes Brothers noted.

i've just come across Davidson and Design builders (in Stone) on the internet, anyone heard of them/used them/recommend them?

also, anybody had building work done in the last few months and recommend their builder?

info on the job i need doing;

Hi

I am new to the area and the forum. I am trying to find a good local builder capable of renovation work on a traditional cottage/barn. Works would include a small extension, ponting, roofing, conversion of existing barn stores in to habitable accommodation, ground works, electrics and plumbing and possibly some project management.

The works need to get the existing structure to a water tight shell that is plastered out. Kitchen, bathrooms etc would be completed by me.

I have looked at the forum and noted a few recommendations previously but for different kinds of work. I would really appreciated some recommendations as being new in the area makes finding someone good a bit of a wild guess!

Many thanks

J

I've done similar thing to what your talking about in the past by the sounds of it. I specialise in plumbing and heating now but started off as more of a builder and have plenty of experience in that area. I could certainly offer you any advise you need and put you in contact with local trades people who I know can be trusted to do a good job. If you would like to have a chat sometime just contact mr on 07915065842

Hi Joe, I can completely recommend Morewood Construction. They specialise in restoration and extension of country/heritage buildings and won some kind of award this year for the best extension in Staffordshire for work they did on a country cottage. They did a lot of work on our house - the original bit is 200 years old and you can't see the join. The work is great, they are a pleasure to deal with and in our case, project-managed the whole thing. It's just two men, though, who get very booked-up. I almost positive they don't have a website but I am sure that you can get contact details on Google and the man to speak to is Mark Edwards. You can't have them in August, though, we've got them! Good luck with your project - I hope it's not long before you are settled in your new home.

Thanks for your recommendations. It's great to get soeone by recommendation and really wanted someone with experience of older properties.

Rikki, @/& Ogdens of course!

Again, just putting the thread back into the limelight.

Rikki, i've PMd you.

I had Rikki down as gas and plumbing, never thought to check out the website for general building work, anyway, he's got the credentials so i'll get him round to quote me up.

...this little forum really does come in handy eh.
