Super Radio Stafford - Stafford's own radio station!

This was not my intention. I think that we need things like Stafford Forum, Super Radio, Stafford Remembered. It's just the few that spoil it for everyone, for example Bobby Dazzler who was obviously out to slag off Super Radio. It was a bit obvious when he only ever commented on this page. Now we have Linda Ladoo who joined the day after Bobby Dazzler and has actually posted on two threads. The other one being about Radio DJ's (which was started by Linda Ladoo) although comments are not the worst they certainly lead to bad comments being made. As I said, Staffordians are proud people and proud of their town, if anyone slags it off they don't like it whatever the reasons. You can say what you like about Stafford Remembered but it has grown to 1200+ members since November who would beg to differ. We should not be warring we should be getting rid of all the sh*t stirrers.

It's not quite as easy as that I'm afraid. If we all thought the same then the world would be a very boring place. My group of friends isn't made up of people who have exactly the same opinion on things as I do; in fact, more often than not, I'm talking crap and they all disagree!

A forum, as has been mentioned before, is a public place to discuss anything and everything. This one is Stafford Forum, so surely it's to be expected that people will air their views on local stuff?!

I don't have a problem with people having a different opinion, it's just the people who obviously, purposely want to cause trouble I have a problem with.

That's absolutely fair enough. An unfortunate but guaranteed byproduct of a free-to-join public internet forum though.

I don't know how to post things from there on here, dunno if i'd really want to. I'd just like me own business so I could go the pie club once in a while!
I appreciate the sentiment, and most definitely the support, Glam, but the last thing I want is for this to turn into some kind of churlish "Us vs. Them" slanging match.

To everyone: This is just a little hiccup, and I would really like it if we could please keep discussion in this thread to Super Stafford Radio, and now that the Facebook issue has been raised (I have personally contacted a few people) let's leave it at that. :)

I think it's clear that you have a personal issue with bobby_dazzler, and you are (unintentionally!) expressing this frustration against The Forum as a whole. This has had the unfortunate effect of your friends on that page thinking poorly of this place, and thinking you mean we are all negative.

I agree with the first part, certainly, as per my many posts on the subject. However, the latter part is quite ironic, given that you are name-checked on that Facebook page more than once as someone who could be considered as doing exactly that.

Fortunately, someone has seen sense and deleted the post from the Facebook page now, but earlier someone had posted something along the lines of "Oooh [Mrs M's real name], that will put the cat amongst the pigeons lol," to which there were many responses saying it was regarding a post on Stafford Forum, and how allegedly miserable we all are. That it was is known on the Internet as "trolling", which I suppose is a more modern-day term for, as you so eloquently put it, "sh*t stirring".

Please don't take offence to this, Mrs M. I am just trying to highlight how easy it is for comments to be misconstrued, especially on the Internet, and the effect it can have. You are one of the longest-serving members of Stafford Forum, having signed up all the way back in May 2007. During that time, you have given us some fascinating insights into Stafford's history, your own personal relations (some of whom have various degrees of fame, it would seem!) and the last thing I want to do is to upset you. What I do want, is for you to once again become a supporter of Stafford Forum, and try to avoid casting us in an unfairly poor light. :)

Anyway, as per the above: Please keep this thread to discussion about Super Radio Stafford, and don't forget to click the banner at the top-left if you want to listen right now! :D

Enjoying a drop of red.
I've lived in Stafford for 42 years. I wouldn't have done so if I didn't like the place but that doesn't mean we all have to go round pretending it is perfect to placate a few individuals.

I've not been on the forum long but until your post Mrs M, it hadn't occurred to me for a second that this forum was about anything other than bigging up the town AND having a bit of fun whilst doing so.

The company I run has achieved the success it has mainly by word of mouth and by me and my fellow directors listening to our customers and taking on board what they say. I am very grateful when they say something nice, but to be honest the negative comments are much more important because most of them give me a steer on how I can make things better for people, which benefits them and me in the process. If I paid attention only to the nice comments I'd be out of business by now, I have no doubt, because I'd be living in a make-believe world where everything was rosy and I only needed to keep my head buried in the sand.

It would seem that some of Super Radio's fans and maybe even some of their staff live in such a world if the above quote from Stafford Remembered is to be believed. If that is the majority view at Super Radio then that is a great pity and I fear will lead to discussions on here in a few years time from people who remember the local station before it ceased operating and wish to reminisce.

However, judging by the way Super Radio has changed since it started in terms of it's djing and programming etc then those that make the decisions there clearly are taking on board many of the things people have said on here in the hope that the station will become even better and are to be congratulated for that.

Finally, if everyone on here agreed about everything it would be a very boring place to visit.

Thanks for your input John, all very supportive, positive, and it's always handy to get advice from someone who can relate to a situation (e.g. your own business starting up).

I would just like to state that I have exchanged messages with a number of DJs at Super Radio Stafford, and I honestly believe that this is not the majority view. I've had some great support from some of the guys there, with some good suggestions about how to work together and streamline our interaction. :)

Indeed! I think it's clear to everyone that they have improved in leaps & bounds since they started. :)

as i work in stafford i was excited to hear about super radio couldnt wait to listen as stafford has been overlooked for far too long for its own radio station i was a fan of stafford fm and more recently smart radio so i got home and tuned in to super radio.
O M G icaught the drivetime show to say it was dull would be a complement if this was pirate radio in the 1960's then the boat would have been torpedoed utter rubbish no personality or focus on the listener the presenter couldnt even say baswich and apologised
go back to the drawing board please or simply give up

I just want it recorded here that I fully support Stafford Forum and have encouraged friends to join. I have used the forum in the past to promote an event.
I dont visit very often but when I have always find it interesting - details of restaurants etc and events

I am slightly annoyed that I am accused of slagging off this forum by someone called Glam - whoever he is.
I am baffled as to how you have come to this conclusion as I have not said anything against this forum on the contrary have always supported it

The only thing I am guilty of is innocently posting details of a fundraiser for local youth groups organised by members of "Stafford Remembered" the facebook group, I didnt realise it would be an issue. The post has been removed now anyway

But I agree with John I like the dig Pun anyway but I am offended by Glam's comment and would like to know how he came to this conclusion about me.

I love Stafford, Stafford People and all things Stafford
I've lived here all my life and wouldnt want to live anywhere else
Oh and I love Super Radio Stafford too

Lately i've found that the home page the link er links to doesn't actually start the station playing - i'm guessing this is due to changes at super radio stafford's end.

How do you tune in if you can't at the web site?

Edit: it appears to be that way only when i use Chrome - so it's almost certainly my fault.
It is now back working in

Thank you Mrs M, but I purposefully held back from posting over the last few days to let the thread calm down. You do not have a right to push people out of one thread and into an other just ‘cause it might suit your motives.

Based on what’s happened today I actually think you are the problem, not me. And anyway, this is a discussion thread for ALL views – not just yours.
