The Old Library Bar & Grill.

Not sure about this being a lovely restaurant - looks like it is a sports bar with a random eating offer (assume food quality will be pitched at a suitable level). Burger and chips whilst watching the footy! Unless I have got this wrong.

Stafford shops closing - Turning into a ghost town?

I for one would not be surprised if the (about to be created car park) isn’t to be exclusively used by Staffs Place’s overpaid executives in order to save on effort walking to and from their cars. I say that we are better off with a public car park than letting our planners further decimate the...

Stafford shops closing - Turning into a ghost town?

The article talks of two buildings "Plans to regenerate Stafford town centre have moved forward with applications submitted to demolish the town’s former magistrates’ court and create a business hub at the historic Shire Hall"! The old magistrates court (by the new police station on Eastgate...

Stafford shops closing - Turning into a ghost town?

How long has this place been closed? Just looked at Companies House and this looks like a SPV setup to hold the property. From the accounts, liabilities are greater than assets (which from the sound of it are probably overstated), it has never made any money and has an increasing level of...

    The Floodgate.

Big shame for all. With current restrictions, I expect that the lack of outside and inside space was very limiting. I wonder how many drinking establishments will be finished off in the next few months :(

I'm planning a visit on Saturday (lock down permitting)! Are we back open again?

I also had a very similar conversation with Andy last Thursday and came to the same opinion. I cannot image how difficult this is to deal with. 3 years ago I shared Andy’s vision of a bar when I let it to him. Being the first bar on the square I think he has had a pretty good stab at it. I...

Stafford shops opening - Turning into a boom town?

A sad day as I lose one of my original Tipping Street retail tenants to a premise upgrade. They are still staying in Stafford but moving to a younger model with better frontage. Onwards and upwards – Boom town thread 1 Ghost town 0 !?!. Hopefully the boom town thread will prevail over the ghost...

Hopes…. So, you are back from your mission to save Stafford Town – how did that go? Did you ever publish your masterplan! I know so many of the forum members are eagerly awaiting your pearls of wisdom. I guess we will have to wait a little longer. You really are one in a million (and not in a...

The Bankhouse Diner (and quirky crafts) formerly B H Grill, Bean Encounter & B H Wine Bar.

Just spotted on the Millar Sandy website that Bean Encounter is for sale / to let. If it is true then it is a real shame that another fine establishment is due (or is at risk) to close. I blame the closure of the North Walls car park :-(

    No 7, Market Square.

I'm gutted that I'm going to miss the official opening as I'm currently on a business trip in the Maldives. Business now concluded (photo shoot and TV interview with the Minister for Energy) and I'm now sat around the pool on my tod thinking about tomorrows flights back. I wish I was with you...

Just for fun: With Bates Gun shop now sold, what would the forum like to see on the Market Square?

A little birdie tells me that they may pop up again this Saturday (early doors) with the back now painted along with the toilets. The new owner of the business is still awaiting bar building, lighting and flooring (none of which are on my list of tasks to be completed). I think the official...

Cannot setup outside without a temp mobile licenses (or something like that). He does have his license so could open doors and use the front area - almost like having an indoor stall.... but only so long as the insurance is in place. I do hope that he can get open as it is an ideal opportunity...

Just for fun: With Bates Gun shop now sold, what would the forum like to see on the Market Square?

Yes the hanging sign will be used by the people on the top two floors which could well be a solicitor. I hope he does get the bar open for this weekend.... even if it just selling bottles.... he has so much to do and decide upon.... I'm having a day off the normal job to help things along...

Just for fun: With Bates Gun shop now sold, what would the forum like to see on the Market Square?

Yes the new name will be "7 Market Square" and all the existing signage will remain as is. The new owner of the busines (already been correctly identified earlier in this thread) has told me today that he will be open in a very limited capacity next weekend then close with a view to fully open...
