I spent huge amounts of time researching the topic and speaking to AIB and other experts when we dealt with this issue at our house. So whilst I appreciate you have to exercise caution, I also think you have to keep a sense of perspective and not panic people unnecessarily.
Agree that AIB are very good. Did lots of work on our garage last year and were very professional. For what it's worth I'd say original pic above is asbestos but also think nothing to worry about in these small amounts, especially as it's white.
They had crisis talks this week as funding has been stopped and they currently don't have means to see them through next weeks until alternative funding can be found. Would be huge shame to see a socially, environmentally and practically very useful organisation go under..
Apparently Arriva's drop in fares on that route is their response to The Social Bus Company starting an alternative service (which serves Walton too, unlike Arriva). Trying to push out the competition.
Bit late now I realise but in case anyone else is looking, we have a chest freezer available from mid-Jan (when new, integrated one arrives).. existing one quite big and in perfect working order.
If i'm totally honest we didn't rate it last year.. went with my parents and kids (5 & 7) and I thought it had a weak storyline that kids struggled to follow and smutty inuendo that I found cringey.. glad others here liked it though and i love Gatehouse normally.
Are there any German-speakers out there in the Stafford area, especially any with children? I'm trying to bring mine up bilingually and would love to meet others in a similar position.. Fingers xd!
Good advice - thanks. The meeting was really well attended with around 150-200 present despite only Walton being leafleted about it. No Arriva rep turned up and whilst the Staffordshire councillor present made the effort, he seemed to have very bad information and kept reiterating the service...
I don't know the politics behind the scenes, but on the face of it it's great news that there are new, quality stores opening in the town centre. Hopefully the first (and second!) of many.
For anyone who is interested/concerned - there's a meeting at Walton Village Hall tomorrow night (Thurs 3rd Sept) 19.30 to discuss the closure of the route and possible alternatives/solutions. It would be great to have some ideas and/or support :-)
