So, you've got saved/been given/won/got your hands on £10k, what you gonna do with it?

Pretty general I know, I'm just looking for ideas.

I would give it to my eldest and his gf, so they could put it towards a deposit for their own home.

So are you looking for ideas for what YOU should do with it?

Or just generally interested in what others would do with it?

Most people know exactly what they would do with any amount of money.

Just because the money is there doesnt mean you have to spend it at once....you could save/invest until you need it.

Resign so that would give me 9 Months to look for another job! Or maybe even better, go part time somewhere, make myself indispensable, then pick up more hours when the 10k ran out! :)

Yes to both questions.

Other than it staying put in a savings account, I was looking for ideas from forumites (how ever silly)!).

If the truth be known, if I was handed 10k on the street, after saying thank you very much, I doubt I'd do anything more than sticking it with my other savings in a high interest savings account, very boring I know (or sensible, depends on the angle) but that's what lead me to getting ideas, here.

Do not presume I'm a boring fart saving money for a rainy day and dying with fun in the bank, I do do stuff!

Oh I dont think anyone presumed that.....well, I didn't anyway.:)

We tend to save/invest as much as we can but if we do get any spare cash then we do the following things.....(not in order of importance)

Pay a chunk of the mortgage
spend it on the house (got the builders in at the moment putting in a new en suite)
Have fabulous holidays and make memories.
OH likes nice cars, I am not bothered so much as long as it goes.

Pretty much the same as me then, I've pretty much finished the house, so twiddling my thumbs whilst my saves burn a hole in my banks pockets!

I'm more a savings half full rather than a savings half empty, type of bore.
