£5,000 Reward for Information leading to the arrest of person(s) responsible for stealing my caravan

Hi, I hope this is OK for my first post but thought posting here might help get the word out!

On Wednesday 23rd October between the hours of 8.45am and 3pm my caravan was stolen from the driveway of my house on The Weston Road(near to the County Showground), Stafford.

Despite being secured the caravan was removed, we assume by thieves who planned the theft and arrived with suitable equipment and tools needed to circumvent the locks.

The experience has understandably left our family somewhat perturbed and upset.

Following the theft, we provided a statement to the Police who duly issued a crime number. We also reported the theft to CRiS, the national register for UK touring caravan owners and our insurer.

Whilst it has been reported that caravan theft has reduced, it remains a common occurrence and costs insurers millions of pounds in claims each year. Last year alone it is suggested that 1,200 caravans were stolen in the UK.

The return of the caravan is secondary to me. What is most important is the individual(s) responsible for this theft are brought to account. This is why I am offering a bounty of £5,000 in cash to the person who provides information leading to the successful arrest and prosecution of the person(s) concerned.

The caravan is a 2011 model Bailey Pegasus 2 Ancona. The serial number of the caravan is CRiS/VIN: SGBSV02BYBPS03410. The serial number is marked on the windows of the caravan and on the chassis itself.

Here is a link that shows the same model of caravan concerned:-

If you see the caravan or have information regarding it you can contact Staffordshire Police on 101 (crime number FZ/59334/2013).

Please pass this post on to as many people as you can.

Best regards
Mark

So very sorry, wish you well in your hunt to recover your van and bring to justice the scum who took it.

Saw a very similar one in town but on Thursday, around 12:40. Very much doubt the thieves would wait a day then move it through the town centre, but it headed past the college then up to the train station. Think it had 11 plates on it.

I feel for you.

If and when you replace it / get it back, I would seriously consider a cheap CCTV setup. They can be bought quite cheaply these days. No offence intended, but i'm amazed that you hadn't already done this with being the proud owner of such as beautiful van!

Good luck, lets hope someone is caught! It's a shame campsites cant be forced to check all caravan serial numbers when they book into sites as it might seriously reduce these thefts over the years. If it was explained to caravaners that it is for their own protection, I'm sure they'd be happy to allow theirs to be checked on book-in as one day it could recover their own if it was stolen.

Hi all,

Thanks for the replies. I've been working away today so only just had the opportunity to log back onto the forum.

The caravan is exactly the same as the one in the link below

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bailey-Pe...mpers_Caravans_Motorhomes&hash=item3385ff869b

The only difference is mine did not have the carpets fitted in it when it was nicked (floor is a laminate wood effect).

Point taken about the CCTV setup, in fact I already organised for a specialist to come and quote.

I'm so gutted about the caravan and still can't believe that it got hauled away in broad daylight. Problem is that my house is quite rural so not much passing traffic that would have possibly seen anything.

I really don't hold out any hope for the police actively searching for it which is why I decided to put up the reward myself.

The caravan was insured but it's the principle and fact that the person(s) who stole it will undoubtedly do it again until they get caught that winds me up more than anything.

£5000 is a reasonable amount of money for simply 'shopping' those responsible and so I'm hoping if this is circulated widely enough then maybe someone who knows something will be encouraged to feedback info to the police. If anyone wants to post my original message onto Facebook etc, feel free.

Thanks again and I'll keep you posted about what happens.

Best of luck to you. I hope your 'investment' gets the scrotes banged up. If it does it will, with luck, act as a deterrent to some other scrotes.

Trouble is, they will get a suspended sentence, or a tag or made to write you a letter telling you how sorry they are.

If you're gonna spend £5k then head to a meat head gym and find someone who's steroids make them angry and poor, if you know what i mean.....
