A 1hr massage for £7.50!

Hello Forumites and happy New Year.

We had a cross-college email about a special promotion on massage treatments at the Stafford Beauty Academy last week. This is the training facility in the new Riverbank Building. I asked if I could extend the promotion to Stafford Forum.

The treatments are being offered between 4-29 March. It is a one-hour body massage and will cost just £7.50 which would make a brilliant relaxing treat for you or an affordable present for someone else (hint: Mother's Day is on 10 March!). Treatments are given by the student therapists, under the management of lecturers. Only a limited number of appointment times are available during the month:
Monday - 9.30am
Tuesday 9.30am and 12pm
Weds 9.30am, 1pm and 1.30pm
Thursday 9.30am, 12pm and 1pm
Friday 9.30am and 1pm.

They did something similar with facials in the Autumn and the appointment times went very quickly. To make an appointment you need to ring as soon as possible: 01785 275514, which is also the number you should ring if you need more information - I don't have details other than those I am posting here. Please mention that you heard about the offer on the Stafford Form because that will make it easier for me to make other offers available on the Forum.

I don't suppose you could mention the Forum when making your booking? That might rather have suggested that you hadn't read your emails.

I've been regularly going to the college beauty salon for a couple of years now for waxing and (free) epilation . They do a brilliant job at a fraction of Salon prices :)

Should have been going to have my first ever facial this week( but that didn't happen as my bathroom decided it needed an urgent visit from the plumber!)

I would certainly be interested in hearing of any future promotions going via this forum.

If it's something people are interested in knowing about I'm sure the college can keep us updated? Mention the forum if you book though!

Now need to find a voucher template to print out, and put in my partners birthday card.

I know I shouldn't ask - but if you're havin sumat waxed, why are you having epilation too? Is it easy book an appointment or is there a long wait get in?

Morning all, Glam, it is easy to book in at the Beauty Academy and there isn't a long wait for appointments. You can collect a brochure listing all the treatments and prices from the reception of the Beauty Academy, entrance nearest the roundabout in the new Riverbank Building. The only thing that you need to keep in mind is that not all the treatments will automatically be available on every day. It depends what modules particular classes are covering at set times.
I have done very little research on the specific merits of epilation and waxing. I would prefer to keep it that way.
Tek - The Beauty Academy used to produce their own vouchers. Not sure if they have done any yet, with the new branding but worth asking.
Staffordjas - I'll happily post details of any other offers I hear about :)

They do the waxing throughout the college terms, but epilation is only available when they are doing a course and doing it to be assessed and for practical etc.
I tend to block book up for the epilation course, once a week, to make sure I get in. Takes longer than in my usual beauty salon but as well as being free I found the college students do a better job!
Normally got several days available during the week for both of them but they only do it at certain times of the day. I do often get a phone call changing the time or day because the lesson plans have altered.

Saves me a fortune though and gives them someone to practice on . :)

Thanks :)

I waxed a strip on my leg once, TBH it wasn't as bad as using an epilator.

I once used the epilator that hubby had bought me for xmas on his hairy back ..........Stopped me after about one inch! :D

Did drag him into a hotel beauty salon to have his back waxed a few years ago. I'd secretly booked it, walked him past the door and next thing he was being' attacked' by the beautician. Didn't put up as much of a fight with her though,as he had done on my previous attempts to wax it!

Is the salon at the College still open to the general public?

Hi Hayley, it certainly is, yes and you'd be very welcome.

Regular prices:
One hour aromatherapy massage: £10.50
Reflexology £7.50
Fake-bake spray tan £13
Steam and salt inahalation room 20 mins for £5.50
Eyebrow shaping £4
Facial £8
Full leg wax and bikini £7.50
Natural nail overlay per set £8

You can collect a full price list from the Beauty Academy or from the main reception at College. The salon (or Beauty Academy as it's now called) is based in the new Riverbank Building, at the end nearest the windmill and has its own entrance from the courtyard.

You can book by calling 01785 275514 but as I always tell people, please remember that it isn't operating as a commercial salon as such. The various course groups/levels will learn specific treatments at particular times of the term and at those points will need lots of clients in order to pass their assessments. There are different treatments available at any time but not ALL treatments, all of the time. To get the best out of the Academy as a customer, you either need to ask what's available on the specific day you are free, or find out when a particular treatment is next being offered. I hope that makes sense - if I have just confused you, apologies!
