I assume public funds weren't used then?
When I was at the Poly, it was run and paid for by the County Council, including staff wages. I believe that it was built with County Council funds - I have asked many people what happened on the transfer to 'University' status, but nobody seems to be able to trace the financial aspect. I would have hoped that the University bought its independence off the Council, but I suspect not...

But why not flog it to Wolverhampton University? It's a selfish act to deprive the town an opportunity

Wolves Uni has campuses in Walsall and Telford already so not a big deal and we could have a lovely lingerie fashion designer course combined with a runway modelling degree and an aromatherapy diploma as well as a south Asian cuisine cookery school

Where do I sign?

If built with public funds can they even sell it? If we paid for it, why can't we keep it?
I suspect that 'we' effectively gave it away to them.

In much the same way that Severn Trent was sold, including the Welsh reservoirs that were built by Birmingham City Council and, essentially, given to the old public water board to manage on their behalf.

I really don't know what happened to the 'ownership' of the Poly - and I've never spoken to anybody that does - or, at least, anybody that will have a public opinion on it.
