After work drink and something to eat

Can anyone recommend a decent place to go for a drink after work with maybe some decent food. Me and the missus always meet up after work and try and unwind before going home, it's always easier eating out rather than cooking at home. Been going to the butlers bell for the past few months and have also tried a couple of other bars but it just seams to get very repretative, same old people (mainly students and people looking just to get drunk) we are after somewhere that does a good bit of grub and a decent pint that ain't going to break the bank.

I've not been in the Bank House since it re-opened, every time I've tried it's been closed.

I quite like Pizza Express and you can usually find a good offer online (2 for 1)

Swan and Stafford Ale house will more than likely be less studenty and the food is great.

There is the place up the alley by MacDonalds, never been in, don't know what it's like and don't know when it's open if I'm honest but might be worth a look. (used to be the Muse Tappas bar)

The Front room? It's next on my list of places to try for coffee but I dont know how late it opens. Pastiche is pretty good value too.

Not tried it myself but have heard that the place up by the Audi garage (Redhill?) does a decent themed buffet at tea times. Chinese, Indian, Tex Mex etc. Fish & chip Fridays have been recommended.
