It would have been unfair on those in the houses on Windsor Road to have ALDI's building right against them. Hence on the side of the site.
It should never have been built at a right angle to the main road.

Yes, it's a shame they removed that Bargain Booze petrol station, it should have been grade 2 listed :)
As I've said previously they weren't the most visually pleasing buildings but at least they were less "in your face" than the new building.

Enjoying a drop of red.
Because originally it was meant to face the houses but something happened with the purchase of the bungalow next to the plot and it was turned 90°. It sticks out and overpowers now.
But for the residents of Windsor Road it is much better that way, surely that is more important than the fleeting view the motorist gets whilst driving by?

Pity they couldn't have built something more in fitting with their surroundings, like the Co-op have on Weeping Cross. Be good to have an alternative this end of town.

And what about the residents of Queensville?

Exactly! The new Co-op is a far nicer building which fits with the area. The new Aldi doesn't.

IMHO looks a lot better than when it was Freedom caravans/Garage/Bargain booze....
The old buildings weren't great as I've already said but the new one is bigger and closer to the houses on Queensville. It's not a nice building. It could have been a lot better.

It looks brand new! If it had been there forever, it would have been built out of brick and tile.

And I'm not a NIMBY as I don't live nearby.

I'm reserving judgement until I see what the traffic situation is I do live near by and just hope it isn't going to cause too much of a traffic problem at the moment I'm hoping it doesn't end up like the traffic getting in and out of Tesco.

I wasn't saying you are a NIMBY (I'm sure you knew that already), I would be though if it was on my rd! ;)
Maybe 'looks like its been there forever' doesn't explain exactly what I mean....It looks like an Aldi, neither new or old...in my opinion (not that it matters) it doesn't look out of place & is 10 times better than the shoddy shite that was there before......
