All those houses that have recently acquired "free" solar panels

The installation of 'free' solar panels is, apparently, causing problems for those who opted in to this scheme. The problem is that any householder using this scheme is effectively granting a lease to the energy company to use the roof space for a period of 25 years, thereby potentially making their property un-mortgageable for potential buyers.

Caveat emptor and all that stuff. Await with interest the squeals for compo from the suckers caught in this particular trap.

Heard this already, but TBH all mortgage lenders have said that as long as the industry standard maintenance terms are fully adhered to then there is no problem. These include terms like all maintenance being free, all damage caused by the panels being fixed for free etc.

I did look at it myself, but it seemed pointless as I'm rarely in during the day. If you get the panels free you don't get the FIT, just free leccy when it is being produced.
