Amazon currently give you a fiver free when you sign up to amazon student, as well as six months free prime and then half price after that (£39 a year). The best bit is you don't need to be a student yourself, just know one. You just have to give them a student email address to validate, then your normal account becomes a student one. They send an email to the student address, they just click confirm. If anyone has a child at college/uni, or maybe attends college themselves (you get an email address even if you're just doing an evening maths course for example) then you are eligible.

Of course if you don't have access to a student email address through friends/family you could always brush up on your skills?

Why moan at a company for using a legal framework our government refuse to change to protect their profits? Its very easy to change the rules, just apply a blanket 20% tax on all sales that are carried out by offshore companies. Maybe a new VAT bracket for those not registered in the UK? Will make sense after brexit!

Actually, now that amazon is a marketplace I wonder if the sellers pay vat anyway? How would they be audited?

I won't use Amazon because of the way they treat their workers!

But then most people don't care as long as they get their stuff cheap and tomorrow!
