La Toya Jackson was in the bar last time I went there ( THE GARTH )

I recall that the Rolling Stones stayed at Tillington Hall in around 1976 ( minus Mick Jagger who had a sleepover at Shugborough )

Also remember several shiny cars getting crushed by trees in the early eighties

And Tilly's nightclub was a place to avoid unless you had ya beer goggles on

Thursday night disco's at Tilly's , I had me beer goggles on :) Clearly remember having the chicken & chips in a basket before we started our night......never tasted them so good anywhere since!

Such a shame when The Garth went . Used to enjoy going there.

I grew up near Tillington Hall and used to walk whichever dogs had been loaned to me, across the fields there. A lot of the bands playing Bingley Hall stayed there, often accompanied by small groups of fans hoping to catch a glimpse. I have particularly fond memories of Kiss because, to my astonishment, I got chatted-up by one of their fans while walking a Westie past the hotel. It was the first time anything like that had ever happened to me and I virtually floated home. I thought it was happiness - it might have been what he was smoking.

Noticed on my way into town the hardware shop on First Avenue is closing down - been there as long as I can remember :(

I noticed that Greggs has closed down :/ I'm beginning to wonder if The Co-Op want everyone out of that block ? Well, they might be refurbing it but I saw them pulling down the sign today, and with EE gone too... it's all getting a bit suspect.

When I went past earlier there was a sign saying they were closed for a refurb and directing them to the other Greggs up the road.

Millets are no longer closing down, they are instead advertising for staff!

We went in on Sunday - it's very empty in there and the staff were complaining about not having had any customers. Hopefully word will get out that they aren't closing down before its too late and they end up closing down again!

I was in there today and it was quiet. I do hope that it picks up again, as the news that Millets were staying was one of the highlights of the year so far for me.
