Two things...

Yesterday (I think) apparently air ambulance had to land on Silkmore lane?

Also, today... when leaving work (5.30) there was a big bang, followed by big flames licking the sky . This was looking over where Kwik Fit is looking towards town. Looked liked from behind Pizza Plus? area.

Proper black smoke and big flames and everything!

There was a bad accident in Weeping Cross yesterday near the double roundabouts on the road to Milford. I drove past it, there was loads of emergency services working on someone. I guess maybe silkmore lane was the nearest safest landing place. If injuries were severe, they often airlift to North staffs multiple injuries unit as stafford DGH doesn't always have the facilities to handle such cases.

Don't know what's been going on today but I seem to have heard nothing but sirens all day.

Can't answer all the questions, but there has been a steady stream of accidents, all over The Ford, and I feel like I have been to most of them! We have been on the motor way tonight, and I believe it was closed earlier due to a fatal motorcycle incident.

RIP to the lad last night. I was on duty.

Tonights carnage took place just before junction 15. We were sent there just after finishing a job on a combine harvester fire in Ranton! Getting to junction 14 from Ranton tested our rural topography! It was a much better outcome tonight. Only minor injuries in a 10 vehicle smash that superficially looked horrific. Quite a few St Helen's fans involved on their way back from their victory in the Challenge Trophy at Wembley. Motorway was closed for nearly an hour. I came on duty at 7.00 pm and didn't get a drink of tea till 11.00 pm.

I hope the current run of accidents in the area ceases quickly.

Mr Seed do find there are more accidents when the sun shines? I've noticed this trend in the last few years.

Not scientific Moley, but hot summer weather definitely seems to coincide with crashes. If pushed, I'd say, more day time, early evening drinking of alcohol, leads to crashes. If we have had a hot weekend, we are expecting to be busy. Visits to country pubs, barbecues (non standard measures drunk) raiding the fridge for a tinny, all contribute to drink driving. Uncomfortable driving conditions, low sun in the evening, irritability due to heat, all could play their part.

So to answer your question more briefly Moley.......... Yes!

Thanks, it's been a belief of mine for some time. Used to be busy in A&E in the summer evenings with ye olde RTA. Now that I am on the open road a journey home often takes three hours due to some kinda accident in the summer. (normally an hour)
