Are there any shirt makers in Stafford?

Being a man of immodest proportions I am faced by the double whammy of little choice coupled with the appalling taste dictated by the fashionistas. All I want are a few decent shirts in soft cotton that neither act as camouflage tents nor pinch out gobbits of flesh between the buttons. So is there anyone out there willing and able to fulfil this criteria?

there maybe a few shirt lifters in the summer months working in their uphill gardens in comfy shoes

Can I still this sort of schoolboy nonsense or will I go straight
To hell?

Many thanks for your help. I have tried to contact Magda and await her reply but I am still looking for any more ideas. I can't believe there are so few tailors in the area.

A friend of mine used to get his shirts made in Hong Kong and sent to him here, his brother-in-law organised it all when he lived there. After this arrangement had been working perfectly for decades, he found himself in Hong Kong for a few days and decided to go to actually meet his tailor. He arrived at the door to be met by his daughter and the doctor who had signed poor man's death certificate just a few minutes before. The daughter was insistent that she would organise a replacement service as soon as possible.

I chatted to the guys in the market and they were unable to help. They can mend, not create.
Re your Hong Kong friend, I go to Asia sometimes and they can make great clothes however they only have tropical cloth, thin and silky or thick and woolen (for Suits). what they do not have is soft feel cotton.

I lived in Hong Kong for a few years and the shirts and suits were good for all seasons ... and good value for money but still very good quality!

I've not visited Hong Kong, only Malasia, Kuala Lumpur, Saigon and Bangkok. No-one had good cotton cloth. Maybe I was just unlucky.

My brother went shopping for jeans in Singapore once, and a chap with a tape measure round his neck asked him what he was looking for.

My brother asked whether the chap had any Levi's for sale, chap said "No, but i could make you some." :)

These people will show you how to measure accurately and will even make you linen shirts, amongst the usual cotton varieties..

There are many other similar operations, but Jantzen seems to get particularly good reports.
