well, what a shock I had this morning/lucky escape.

I was checking the oil on my car (5 series) which was serviced by arnold clark at stafford last week. only to find that they had left a screwdriver under the bonnet.. needless to say I am less than impressed, as I bet if something did happen they would have also tried to get out of my after sale warranty i have taken with em!

ne warned folks double check everything they do

Went to Arnold Clark with my Grandad a year or so back as he was after a new little run around. They were really unhelpful and this is a man with cash literally burning a whole in his pocket - he could have walked away with a car that very day, no finance or mucking about.
We went and bought one somewhere else where they actually gave two hoots. I wouldn't go back, If a company can't be bothered to take £10K in hard cash off you in this day and age then they must be doing fantastically.

I bought a car off them, I wont use them again purely for the service we received from their salesman.

Avoid Arnold Clark like the plague. They sold a workmate a car with "Full service history" and when he questioned where the proof was after buying it they were very slow on providing it but he kept onto them to provide proof.

In the end they supplied a rather dubious looking letter that was supposedly from the head of Mitsubishi UK (as if the boss of a huge company would deal with it). He got in touch with Mitsubishi UK and asked if they had sent this letter and they said no, it was a forgery.

So unless you like deal with people who commit acts of fraud (okay it may be an employee working alone) I would go elsewhere.

Oh and if you do buy from them, take that awful yellow sticker off the car, don't give them free advertising.

I had my Fiat Punto from them two years ago, got a good trade in price for my old car, had the two services thingy and each time i took my car for said service, they have cleaned the car inside and out and gave me a print-out run down of jobs undertaken (though i had to ask for that), don't have a bad word to say about them to be honest.

Luck of the draw?

...I'm just trying to address the balance.

I've just had the unfortunate displeasure of dealing with these scumbags.

Had a nightmare at Stafford and the most ignorant sales guy imaginable but we liked the car so went to a different dealership. Pretty sure they have committed fraud, just waiting for the manager's manager to come back to me from the Glasgow office but I think my next call will be the FSA, FCA and the financial ombudsman with a call to my solicitor not far behind.

Why is nothing every just easy.

Had some good and bad experiences..Bought a B-Max in July and purchased a service package with it and have found out they don't even change the air filter when doing the service!! The part is only a fiver but that's not the point!!

On the bright side they didn't hesitate to replace the front heated windscreen after I purchased it (only one side worked) and resolved an issue which lit up an engine management light on the dashboard...

Had the same problem with them A.C. Tipton regarding a Pug 307Sw, the promised full service history never materialised. On a positive note the car was a great run around which was more of a testament to the previous owner.

They make their money from finance and selling you all sorts of useless extras. Cash sales don’t really give them much profit any more.

I bought a car from that Stoneacre Peugeot place down by Tesco. 50% cash, the rest on finance. First thing they lied about was the interest rate. They said 6%, but it was 23 %apr when I checked the paperwork properly later.

They included a bunch of insurances, for paint, upholstery, etc, on the contract without asking me, so I told them to rewrite the deal without all that extra crap on it. ‘We are obliged by law to tell you all about these insurances’ blah blah.....

It was my own fault I never spotted their lie about the interest rate until next day, but I went back and cancelled it. I had the money to pay it off cash, but I got the finance as it looked a good rate and I wanted to keep something in the bank for a rainy day.

They gave me some excuse about ‘base date’ but by law they have to tell you the APR if you ask the interest rate.

As is often the case - what matters is he (or she) who shouts the loudest and demands to speak to the person that can make a decision. Hopefully not counting my chickens just yet but after two days on the telephone to various minions and managers somebody had a couple of brain cells to rub together and decided actually this situation isn't right, and maybe seen as its our f*ck up we'll get off our backsides and sort it out.

I think the fact that I had recorded the sales manager admitting that he'd lied to me also helped a little.
