I know. That was the reaction here. Near a large Tesco. This isn't down a back street in the early hours of the morning. Scary.
In fairness, few rapes are. I wonder if they were known to each other. Not that it makes the situation any better.

I wasn't laying any blame at anyone other than I really am scratching my head at the seemingly higher rate of both serious and petty crime that's happening in Stafford. No blame towards any broad group of people.

I guessed

It was the other comment by the alleged crime investigation team, CPS, judge and jury that I meant to highlight

This is society.
We have let it get this far by voting for it, in the name of not letting others take control.
Feeling pretty bloody angry about it all, right now!
Society should mean caring for each other.
If i'm out, I now feel obliged to walk any lady i'm in the company of, to safety. That may now put me in danger but I'm old fashioned!

I hope this lady comes through her experience with the help she needs.

Enjoying a drop of red.
My sources inform me this alleged incident took place in that little roadway between Tesco and what used to be the Suzuki garage.

Is there actually anything down there, I've never been?

Just a small no through road between Newport Road and Tesco car park. Mainly used by pedestrians.

Is it the remains of what was the access to the Railway Club, etc?

It appears to run right round the back of Tesco now, though deliveries are probably using the main car park road for access, as Google Maps shows cars obstructing the 'sweep' for articulated lorries to get round the tight corner behind the Eagle - and there is a gate there now, too.

It may also be intended to be a fire/rescue access route?

At the side of Stonacre? Lots of cars are always parked there, but I've not worked out if they're Tesco staff or commuters...

I see a fair few people loitering down there when I walk past so had assumed there was something down there

There's a vehicle access to the back of Eagle House down there and I've seen a few of the residents from there hanging around.

I believe the road is still owned by Network Rail as it used to be the access to No4 signalbox and is still an access point to the track.

Most cars are parked up and their owners off on trains by 06.30/07.00 so I would guess that there wouldn't be many people around there when this attack happened.

In days gone by the road led to the BR Staff Association club as @Gramaisc has already said as well as to the old coal yard and the sidings on that side of the railway. The wall was the boundary wall of King Edward VI grammar school.
