I have downloaded a film which is an avi file and I have no sound, can anyone help? It only happens on this film.

Download VLC player (it's free) and see if it plays with that.

Failing that, download a programme called GSpot (yep, it's free!!) and load the file up in that. See what it says about the audio codec.

try downloading and using afreeCodecVT.. that will show you which video and audio codec your video file is using.. once you have that info, i'm sure we can point you in the direction of the correct codec :)

your other option would be to download and use Media Player Classic.. this is a media player to use instead of Windows Media Player/RealPlayer/etc.. it is a standalone package, and uses its own internal decoders for most formats, doing away with the need for pesky libraries and codecs!

Thank you all for your input and a skill point to DB, we have sound. Also BIG THANK YOU from the kids. It was the Simpsons Movie.

Both VLC and Media Player Classic are top banana - I favour Media Player Classic.

Because it has an ASCII video option.
