2018 is the 100 years anniversary for the formation of the RAF.

Over Sunday the 1st of April and Bank Holiday Monday the 2nd of April the Cosford RAF Museum will come alive with Crews from throughout history.
Join living historians, interpreters, children's activities, vintage vehicles and much more across the whole site.
Meet the originators of the Royal Flying Corps, stories of peacetime operations, WW2 pilots, have a go at plotting maps, anti aircraft guns, or relax in the officers mess. Find out what we were listening in to during the Cold War, and marvel at the skills of pilots in the new Jet Age or practise your Scramble to the Vulcan.

This is a free event within the RAF Museum Cosford.
(Parking fees apply and some activities may be priced individually).

Interestingly, perhaps, the RAAF was founded in 1921, and elected to start on March 31st, to avoid the April the First issue....

8 March at 16:00–19:00 - RAF Cosford Nightshoot

In preparation for their own celebrations in June of this year, the RAF Cosford Air Show team have been busy assembling a selection of aircraft from the past century of RAF history. They’ve very kindly agreed for some of those aircraft (yes, including Black Mike!) to be wheeled out of their hangars for one night!

Proceeds from this event will be donated to the RAF100 Appeal and 238 squadron charitable initiatives.

I may have posted this before, but "Victor" doesn't bring it up in a search.

I got this photograph as an approximately A3-sized print, mounted in a glass-bottomed tea-tray - from the boot sale a few years ago.

View attachment 5386

Presumably taken by the occupant of another Lightning.
Mmm, it's interesting that it's very hard to identify either aircraft specifically. I wonder if the numbers were 'dodged out' during the printing, to avoid any repercussions if they got caught?

It looks like it could be a 92 Sqdn Lightning from the tail, although the port missile obscures the nose flash, but I would have expected to be able to see the underwing numbers - any image enhancers out there?
