When I was at Birmingham last week a Spitfire flew over the city centre, I tried to film it on my phone but it was gone before I got my phone out.

You sure it wasn't one of these taking off or landing at BHX?

Spitfire only has one engine and a tail-wheel undercarriage.
If only we'd had pictorial confirmation.

I was in Derby this afternoon, I saw Concordski flying overhead. But it had gone, with a great big boom, before I could get my camera out.

It was definitely a Spitfire because I have seen one before. I've just been checking out some plan spotter forums but as yet I haven't found anyone else who saw it as well.

Of course, there have been full-sized aircraft that were remote controlled - used in crash testing, missile/gunnery targets, etc.
