We've got an absolutely stonking line-up for May Day Bank Holiday at Joxer Brady's! It might be the end of all our lovely days off, but see the season off with a smile! Top line comedians on the bill include;

Richard Massara
Sarah Hendricks
David Baggot
Katie Mulgrew -
who couldn't make it last month due to health issues
Freddie Farrell
Paul Hamer
Kiri Pritchard McLean
Billy Maguire
Rob Halden

We always have a cracking evening of fun and laughs. One of the acts is a relative newcomer to the industry, the rest are rock-solid veterans who will be trying out some new material along with their certified gold.

Entry is absolutely FREE!

The show starts at 9 pm but if you want good seats with a nice view then you'll need to arrive early, as these seats get snapped up quickly.

Joxer Brady's is located at St. Martin's Place, just off the Market Square. For further details call 01785 228 183

This was an absolute blinder of a night! A brilliant Bank Holiday show that went on until past twelve (with the pub serving drinks till midnight).

A big thanks to our lovely and supportive Stafford audience who came along and laughed. Every month the comedians tell me what a great audience we have in Stafford, and last night one of the acts described you all as "the kind of intelligent and comedy loving audience that you dream of." Once again we were packed with laughers, despite not getting a mention in any of the local papers, so it's thanks to places like the Stafford Forum that we manage to attract an audience. Thank you webmaster!

Thanks a lot and we're back on June 6th.

I take it you've asked for a mention in the local papers? Have they given you a reason why they won't feature you, or do you have any idea why not?

It's generally because they want you to pay for advertising rather than getting it for free.

If they are looking to fill a bit of space and you can come up with a newsworthy 'angle' you can sometimes strike it lucky, but mostly they want your dosh.

Oh ok. I've dealt with the press in the past and come up against similar, but was wondering if the local papers here were different - obviously not. I don't read any of them. They go straight onto the pile for the fire/pets litter.

I suspect it is the same wherever you are - something for juice-comedy to bear in mind for next time, perhaps.

If my memory serves me right there was an 'anniversary' night recently, and wasn't the venue also up for an award of some sort? - both the kind of thing that might whip up a bit of interest from Mr. Phil Space.

If there is anything like this in the offing in the not too distant it might be worth getting in touch for a photo-op if nothing else.

We used to have a really good relationship with the Newsletter, every month I'd send them a press-release and a photograph or two, and we could count on getting some amount of space.

Over the last 5 months it's been very hit-and-miss.

I've only just got back into buying the Newsletter in a 'use it or lose it' stylee, so wasn't sure what relationship you did, or didn't, have with the meedja.

If you've been knocking on the door but they haven't been answering it suggests that they're after your advertising revenue - understandable innit?
