Bank Holiday W/E @ The Nelson with Hibrid & Materia + Guests & Bands

Howdy folks,

Just passing by to give you the heads up about an event that I'm throwing with a few musical associates later in August. Here's the official blurb from the FB event page:

"Bank holiday weekend...

If, like us, you were too slow / lazy / busy / skint to get Shambala tickets, then why not pop along to the Nelson in Stafford on the Sunday and join us for our own little mini-festival? It's also our warmup partay for the DBNB summer camp, so we'll be testing a few new tunes, lighting / smoke fx, and generally having a reet old laugh! (I might even get the laser out to play - Jay)

A variety of acts are planned, once we've finalised the list we'll post more details up here. As it stands, we have 4 local acts & us so far, a local band or three for the daytime, and at least one other guest DJ from Big Dirty Records; there's also plans for a BBQ, giant Jenga set in the beer garden, possibly a games corner with a reasonably up-to-date console of some description and a few other bits 'n bobs to keep you entertained.

Likewise, we're also looking into getting some other games and entertainment to keep you occupied, including a games corner and some slightly more traditional non-computer multi-player games... and we're on the lookout for some talented artists to come and do live art work (tbc)."

So that's that... 2pm start throught till whenever. After speaking with Bill (landlord) at the Nelson, he's going to be putting the more guitar-friendly music on during the day, to cater for a wider range of tastes, and in the eve we're going to be throwing a reet old mixture of beats, bass, breaks, and generally anything involving electronic music, as above.

I'll post further information regarding the exact artists / times etc the closer we get, as we're very much in the stage of planning still.

Hopefully we'll see some of you lovely people down there!

Kind regards - J

Ok, couple of days to go, and the weather's looking dodgy - so we're gonna do our best with the BBQ; fortunately there's plenty of cover as anyone who knows The Nelson will be aware of.

As above, chilled beats during the day, Bill's kindly chucking a couple of bands on later in the afternoon, and then evening time = Party!

Hopefully will see a few familiar faces down there, we've tried to make it so there's something for everyone at this event :)
