did you type in "facebook.com" in the search thing?
some web filters are more strict than others.. i reckon the NHS one is probably pretty strict, so it won't let anything like this through regardless of how surreptitious its means are! works for some people, though, so good link all the same

yes sorry, any attempt to bypass fascist web filters gets the  from me too.

unfortunately the fact that it has the word 'facebook' in its address gets it spotted here at the royal infirmary - couldnt even get to the search thing to enter a value.

:greenwithenvy: at those who this works for!

:peace:

I noticed when a friend was in hospital recently that they seem to have a blanket ban on unknown sites. Even ones I'd just written that day wouldn't work, so there was no way they were banned as such but rather used a 'white list' of OK sites.

Furbal may find that site useful though, lets see how good his filters are :D

It's pretty much the same webproxy software that I've been playing around with, but unfortunately anyone can access this one, including the web filters, like websense. Cos their software is constantly crawling the internet, as soon as it finds a proxy/avoidance site it sticks it on the banned list, so by the time you know of a new one it's probably already banned.

Also some still scan each page that passes through the web proxy and flags up suspect words, so would need to be encrypted as well. Even if you can bypass the filter your web activity can still be monitored and you can still get into a fair bit of bother. Not really worth it IF you value your job. I don't value mine and have a very crude one working...it took ages to sort out and much bothering of tek-monkey :P

My advice would be just to find other ways of slacking off

Should work for South Staffordshire and Shropshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust......they only limit the information displayed on the page i.e. ebay stuff etc. Facebook is no probs.

Yes, there are very strict IT codes here and they aren't afraid to discipline people. Well, thats the impression I got from our most informative, exciting and downright fun Corporate Induction DAY!

Yeah, when working for Leeds Teaching Hospitals we were able to access anything and everything except pornography. A little bit of trust, in terms of 'get the job done, to a high standard, on time' was employed and helped to keep moral above self destruction levels.
