Baswich Library: Helen Parr the County Council Community Support Officer for Baswich Library will be attending our public meeting next week and will answer questions relating to the library / volunteers / plans etc

Update on Baswich Library and its transition to community management. Via SCC

We have a training programme in place for our community managed library volunteers, where they attend the library on the day it is closed, for one day a week for five weeks. Yesterday we delivered week 2 of this training where the volunteers started to look at our computer systems. In Week 1 we did an introduction to the library service, customer care and how to answer enquiries.

We have 13 volunteers recruited for Baswich Library currently. I also spoke to 3 more interested potential volunteers yesterday, who are currently completing application forms, and I have just received another 3 expressions of interest that I need to follow up.

PUBLIC DEMONSTRATION for the IMMEDIATE opening of some part of the Bodmin Ave Car Park this Thursday 10.00am outside the Car Park

Enjoying a drop of red.
Local businesses have been suffering from the loss of this car park, now it's available for use, why is it not open? It should have been available months ago.
Fair point. I think I must have misread your post above as it's all very clear now :)

Drove past it tonight.... don't see why they couldn't open up about 20 of the spaces and still keep the other half safely fenced off for ongoing works?

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
If Tesco had been able to buy the site, the store would have been up and running and the car park open months ago.

At Anne's car park will close over half term for re-surfacing works. These works have already been delayed duo to the on-going closure of this car park.

The developers Goldrush and their main contractor have experienced long delays at the Weeping Cross site.

The only delays I have seen are when there was only two people working on site when it was obvious that more people were needed.

I do have to point out that it was never "our" car park. It belonged to the Pub owners but they must have had an agreement to allow it to be used by shoppers. It could happen that the Co-op may decide to enforce a "park and shop at Co-op only" policy and if they do, then the parking problems will continue.

The Council owened the car park, the pub maintained it. SBC did a land swap with the Breverand and gave them the land off Baswich Lane, opposite the Saltings, so the coop deal could go through.
