I assumed the Pub owners would have owned the car park. I didn't realise that was the deal with it.

Which patch of land on Baswich Lane do you mean?

Have the Co-op said if they intend the car park to be public or are they going to do an ASDA?
Checking that this is still the case.
21st May 2014, the Newsletter reported:
Earlier this month Stafford Borough Council said they had been negotiating a land swap deal with the Brethren for four years so the authority could retain the use of the car park and the Christian group could build a meeting room on [the Meeting room will be off Baswich Lane, not built yet]

Enjoying a drop of red.
My guess is that they're deliberately keeping it shut in the hope that some of the shops go under; forcing people to buy their meat/newspapers from the Co-op when it finally does open for example.

All in the typical ethical way the Co-op has.

Re: the ex-Crossbow car park ...

Does anyone else remember there being a square plaque on the wall between the ex-Crossbow car park and St Anne's church, saying something about public access to the car park, something about a 1932 act? That plaque isn't there now.

I'm informed:
"There used to be a standard cast plaque on the low level wall white background black letters, can't remember the exact words but it indicated that the car park was for public use, I assume SBC had it done years ago".

Yes that sounds about right. It said something about an act. I don't know if it's continued existence would have stopped the Co-op imposing a two-hour limit.

I no longer live round there, but two hours seems reasonable to me. Who will enforce it and in what manner?

My wife spends longer than two hours in the Francesco salon sometimes.
