oh god, you had to post this just before lunch time! lol.. sounds lovely.. the only place i know of in haughton is that posh one on the far side.. "the shropshire" or something..

edit: wait a minute, i've just thought.. do you mean the ham & eggery? i'm sure it's called "the bell inn" or something.. if so, i made a thread about it about a year ago, and yes - it's amazing!

edit 2: i can't find the aforementioned thread, so perhaps i didn't post after all..

edit 3: wait a minute, that's not in haughton though.. is it? lol.. i'm confusing myself..

Isn't the ham and eggery on the A5 on the way to Telford?

The Bell at Haughton - Top Notch. Family love the Shropshire Inn at the "far" end of the village too although I'm not such a fan.

Dear All,

Thanks for all your comments.
Just a quick note to let all know who we are at the Bell,
Rich (my husband), Beatrice (our 15month daughter) and i moved to stafford 10th December 2008, we sold our free house near Audlem as we wanted a challenge with The Bell and move closer to parents (they own Boat @ Gnosall since September 08).
Without going into to much detail we have now cleaned up and newly decorated the inside(outside, new lighting , paint and signs) will commence in Summer.
We started food the end of January, we are open Tuesday to Saturday 12-2 & 6-9(food) 12-2.30 & 5 - 12(drinks) and sunday 12 - 4 (sunday lunch) and 12 - 11 (bar)
Richard looks after 4 real ales, 5 in summer(maybe a cask cider), and I look after the Kitchen, i'm an ex RAF Chef and i'd like to think my parents tax money has been spent well with all the training i recieved.
We offer good, homemade, food with easy to read menus, some chefs get carried away with speal these days when writing descriptions that people cannot often understand (plain English please!)
I do hope you can visit us at The Bell and introduce yourselfs as we really dont know anyone around Stafford (lol) .

Hope to see you in the Bell soon,

Alison , Richard and Beatrice x

PS We had a fantastic St Patricks night and Steak Night, if you'd like to book for our St George's or Pie eve(6th may) please call 01785 780301

Last summer the bear was serving up a rare treat of pies supplied by a Co named Pie Minister, they were worthy of the extra bob or two that it cost. Will you be using these or are they homemade? There is another new kid on the block who go under the i.d. of Sir Pies Sir Pies..not sure of the range they do however a friend in Somerset says they are the dog whatsits....

it's funny that you should separate the words "pie minister" like that.. i had always assumed it was pronounced "pieminister", like "westminster", but we were having a conversation here in the office the other day about their cracking pies and someone else insisted it was "the pie minister"..

i still think i'm right, because the website presents it as one word: http://www.pieminister.co.uk

there's one in trentham, i think.. but i'm fairly sure that the bell will be all home made pies - or at least, that's the impression i got from the above posts.. i doubt all her RAF training amounts to is "buy pies from a shop" lol..

edit: although now i think about it, if they intended it to be pronounced as "westminster" then why didn't they spell it thus? perhaps i am wrong after all lol..

I always thought it was meant to sound more like 'Prime Minister' as opposed to 'Westminster'....perhaps we'll never know. Me and Sofa went to the Pieminister shop in Trentham last year on the way to collect me new telly. I'd never tried one before, which is surprising considering they're Bristol-based and I go to Bristol a few times a year. Yu-u-um. Frickin' delicious.

Anyway, pie night @ The Bell for £7.95 sounds just my kinda thing...I look forward to seeing the variety available!

They're not going to sell many if they admit that!
Yeah, I mean, everyone prefers cheesy wotsits, don't they.
