Bins!

I can't understand the logic behind these new collections. Rather than starting at one end of the estate and working their way around, like they used to do , they are now driving backwards and forwards around the estate all day. The road next to ours was done at 8.45am last week, ours was done at 4pm ! When I walked around the ringroad that day there were some streets emptied and ones inbetween not yet done. Are they going around alphabetically or something???
Postcode lottery?

There's communal bins down the road so when I throw a particularly big party, they can be used, but normally I just use the neighbours, I'm sure half of them don't actually live here most of the time anyway...

Spoke to the Council this morning. It would seem that Veolia have taken it up on themselves to change our collection day back to a Wednesday (as with the other side of the road) but didn’t notify the Council!.

This all has the look of something that was organised by "someone who's been on a course".

Or has an unusual solution to the famous "Seven Binmen of Königsberg" problem.
Took me less than 5 minutes to solve the Seven Bridges of Königsberg; not sure there is one for the Seven Binmen though.

Regarding the Seven Bridges of Königsberg, the problem with mathematicians is that they think like mathematicians and for 300 years or so they've managed to convince everybody that there is no solution.

Once you apply a little bit of geography to the problem, its very simple. But don't tell the mathematicians.

I'm intrigued. Just wondering what the little bit of geography is that you've had to apply.

Another thing that's always puzzled me is how Konigsberg/Kaliningrad ever became a Russian enclave. I suspect the Russkies, having invaded the place, took a fancy to it with it being an ice-free port on the Baltic, and promptly moved a load of their people in, making it difficult to take it off them. I suspect the same has happened with the Crimea and the Black Sea.

I presumed that he'd just lifted the bridges around, as we have learned how easy that is to do..

I am smugly about to load up my bins and put them out, a day after everybody else in the street - having looked at the Bank Holiday week calendar and seen that this week will be a day 'late'.

A day late for us too but most the street have already put the bin out. Should I trust the calender or do the rest of the street know something I don't. Tempted to put it out just in case.

Ours should have gone today, in a 'normal' week, but they haven't.

I imagine that they really will go tomorrow, possibly slightly earlier than normal, whatever that is.

25% of our street had their green bins out last night ready for today (even though collection has been put back to tomorrow), and most of the rest had them out first thing this morning. I put ours out just after lunch.

Still can't work out what they are playing at with the blue bin collections by us. Whilst walking home today I saw the lorry emptying in one road, then the next 2 roads along hadn't been done, so assumed that it was working it's way up towards mine. Got home to find mine had already been emptied, so after our road they'd then driven past the next two to return later :q:
