Bit of flooding - Fri 23rd Dec 2011

Is that a Moomin?
Not really news as it happens everytime we get a drip of rain but, Sandon and Marston roads ( by the crosses and shell respectively) are flooded and have slow traffic.

Likewise if you need to go through Milford, flooding near the Cricket Club.

Don't make the mistake of avoiding it by coming back through Brocton, the flood water is deeper in Brocton.

Yes, i did make that mistake.

I thought steps had been taken to eliminate the flooding by the Shell garage. Or did I imagine that?

Riverway too, plus the time of year is making people careless about how they drive through. (Or maybe the individuals are like that all year round, we'll never know!!)

A considerable number of steps have been taken over the last thirty years - and it has reduced quite a bit in intensity and frequency of flooding. It may be that the conduit from Crooked Bridge Road, at the corner of the prison, running through St George's grounds, is still a bottle-neck. I remember there being a long-running dispute over whose responibility that section was...

There's obviously a lack of capacity or flow. I imagine the addition of houses on the old Lotus shoes site hasn't helped?

I had the misfortune of encountering yet more of Stafford's thickmotoring muppetts! Walking past the barrier to walk through Sainsburys car park and some silly old tart drove straight through the deep water just the shop side of the barrier, than walking along North Walls on way to the back of Nelsons somebody drove past through another load at full speed without a bit of consideration! Suffice to say, warm pub was welcome and took me tat least two pints to get wet on the inside and dry on the outside!
Sheer volume that fell in such a short time was the main problem, however, there are a few areas that could be improved. The bit on the lichfield Road near the bottom of the rear access lane, the access to sainsburys lorry park and entrance by the barrier, riverway was closed on Friday to normal traffic, and Tesco car park seems to have just been left with numerous spaces unusable where part of it has subsided.

You can have someone done for "driving without due care and attention" or "driving without consideration for other road users" if they splash you.

I thought the holidays would mean people driving a bit more relaxed and more patiently, fat chance.

Have someone done?
Wouldnt go that far but would consider doing them the same way if I saw a big puddle! I find it quite easy to vary speed if somebody is walking by. Not that hard really! And neither driver appeared to be young and careless.................
