Much awaited first pre-season friendly vs Portvale. With all the new lads, plus a couple of ex Vale to choose from, it should be one to look forward to.

If your teams not playing why not pop down and support your local team! Without the people of Staffords support it will be something that the town could lose!

How much is entry? I'm not really tempted to be honest (as a non-rangers fan, sorry!) with the England (womens) game on TV but a good price might sway some locals.

Not good on the face of it but i thought Rangers played quite well - certainly better than they did in the games i saw last season. Both goals were very good and the team play was encouraging.

Looking forward to the start of the season now. :)

(Should i write "and back to the studio" or shall i leave it to basil?)

If you will be pedantic

Concur with what Withnail said! Very positive start to the friendlies! And Vale did us the honour, of sending a good squad. (they are 4 levels above 'Boro!) and we had a few player's injured or on holiday!

All in all; OK, we lost, but it was a reasonable work out, against a full time outfit. So much better than the shambles of last season. Roll on the season, shame I in Cornwall for the first two weeks.

The Rangers' No. 1 fan was being kept up to date by text messages to his hospital bed throughout the match.

You are a mere No 2 to Gilbert Grape's Dad....
If the fella has been ill/injured/bad, hope he is on the road to recovery. I have a feeling this season the Boro' will raise his spirits! :)
