Are the computer fairs which used to happen at Trentham Gardens still on? Used to go to those years ago, they used to be a goldmine. Of course this was when computer parts were expensive (e.g. hard drives were £30/GB) and before the days of propper t'internet shopping.

There was no evidence of any boot sale activity this morning, despite there being no weather issues - unless I was just late and everyone had already retired to recuperate after a buying frenzy. Perhaps we just have to wait a bit and then start properly on the Common.

@ Shoes - The computer fairs are much better / cheaper at the Wolverhampton Racecourse (signposted off the A449 to wolvrhampton)

The trentham one must charge more rent because the same sellers carge higher prices there than they do at wolves

Hope this info is of use to you

PS - Wolves one just as easy to get to as trentham. Its Dunstall Park Racecourse, this side of Wolverhampton and literally one minute off the main A449

Used to go to these all the time, but I find it easier to use ebuyer nowadays. Last time I went to a fair was over 2 years ago, but I could get the same stuff online cheaper.

Cheers Wayne, I shall bear that in mine. I fine, like tek, however, that ebuyer and dabs between them are pretty much unbeatable for components. For full machines I would recommend no one other than Dell. I bought a Dell XPS machine at the end of last year and cannot fault it, its lightening fast, stable and the price was simply unbeatable.

I'm a huge fan of eBuyer too, and although haven't been to a computer fair for a while now, i like to go just for a look around from time to time.

Didn't bother even looking at rangers this morning, the wife and i went to cock sparrow lane, not a bad Sunday stroll but I only spent a pound on a Timberland vomp, lots of stalls but its still mainly traders, probably have to wait for better weather for the bargains.

I had to look it up - vest of many pockets - I have several and never knew they were vomps. Thank you for prompting me to learn something new and useful, perhaps I will seem cool if I say it to a youth. I'll try it and let you know.

So, when is the Common Boot Sale back on? I have some stuff to sell :toot:

(It may already be back on, but I like my lay-ins on Sundays, sorry :/ )
I went as a seller before, and most of the stuff went within 15 minutes! I'm bringing my girlfriend with me this time as she has stuff to sell before a house move.

Btw - I used to go to Computer Markets all the time - you just don't get the smell of new tech and silicon in the morning as you do on ebuyer!
I don't know if it was just me, but it sort of has the same atmosphere as a sci-fi convention.

There's been no sign of anything for the last few weeks now and so I decided to check properly this morning - with the weather being so amenable - but there was nothing. I will report as soon as I know what is supposed to be happening.

I was reliably informed by my girlfriend earlier... Apparently in the Newsletter the first Common Boot Sale will be next Sunday (22nd March 2009) although don't quote me on this.

Times are usually 7am til midday, although I've seen people arrive earlier!

On a Sunday morning? Mental illness!
Yes, I'll have to set my alarm clock especially early being as I'm selling. I don't even get up that early for work!

Usually if I do happen to wake up early on a Sunday by chance, I will pootle down and get there by 11am for a mooch if I'm lucky! Although all that's left by then are headless dolls stuck in mud and bits of old telephones. Oh, and a dodgy bloke selling knock-off cassette tapes of Des O'Connor.

Cannock Car Boot has been back on for a few weeks now. That's where I will probably mooch to.

Stafford Beast - you should let staffordforum.com members get a 10% discount! lol.
