Could you try having a friend catch the "ball and string" combination on either street or garden side? A hefty throw should do it. (Actually, I'm not sure I could throw a "ball and string combo" over a house. Might try after tea...)

80p entry fee? Sod that. In fact, who charges the people to set up on the common? As its common land and everything.
no, the commons's still free, its 80 p for burrows field, but it includes a free raffle, winner's posted next week

Rain stopped play at around half ten - but I had found a Seamus Moore video including the immortal Transit van and a Silva armband-mounted orienteering compass. I also found an 'In-Flight Czech' which claims that I'll be speaking it in 60 minutes. If not, then I'll be back there at midday for my money back!

The boot sale was truly huge today, but, in line with the proverb 'The bigger it is, the more crap there is', there was little to entice me. I did get some Sigg fuel bottles, but nothing else for myself. There was a surprising selection of sickles available for those who need such things. There's always tomorrow.

Smaller, but better today. There was foil there, for anybody interested in fencing - and a ball clock, but that was a tenner. I got a load of low energy bulbs at 10p each and a very nice, small jemmy for 20p, possibly intended for a lady's handbag.

I did better too, I got two sets of ink cartridges £2 and a wireless network card for one of my laptops for £4 at Stafford.
Burrows field had nothing that interested me tho.

I know there is a Forumite with a Mole-grip in her handbag - I wonder if she is honest enough to confess?

A better boot sale today - more bootish than it has been of late. There were a few programmable water timers, quite a bit of knitting-related material, yarn and needles, probably suitable for a Young WI situation and a surprising amount of fitness machinery - mostly being sold by people who weighed about the same as the population of a small African country. I spent 50p on a 2 X 9W PL light fitting and £10 on a Garden Groom - ideal for thorny hedges over flower beds ( which will be banned when I take over! ).

No mention of the Air Ambulance that attended the car boot?

I was on Sir Graham Balfour School field at the time it flew in. Any news as to what happened?

Guy fell over in a small ditch, think he broke his leg. The air ambulance left them to it, think a normal one came for him instead.

Only ones I had today were some baby sweetcorns and a pumpkin plant. Was fairly busy, but also rather warm!
