Caravans at Milford Common

Not having been that way for a week or so, I was surprised to see a large number of caravans encamped on the Shugborough side of Milford Common. Shiny 4WDs, non-UK numbers. Are they travelling folk visiting Stafford, or some caravan club? Are you allowed to camp there? Is there a connection to the 4WD with Swiss plates that was being driven in silly fashion towards and onto a similar encampment spotted a few days ago on the Sainsbury's carpark? :mystery:

I must say it all looks rather jolly at Milford, and were they to open a veggieburger 'n falafel stand would make a fortune.

The caravans at Milford Common

THE council is preparing another court order to move caravans which have set up at another site in Stafford.

Around 10-12 caravans arrived on one of the long-stay Doxey Road car parks earlier this week and Stafford Borough Council, which had responsibility for the land, served the families a legal notice to move or face eviction.

The caravans then moved to another site at Milford Common, which falls under Staffordshire County Council.

Cllr Mike Lawrence, Cabinet Member for Children and Community Safety said: "We are aware that a number of travelling families have parked up on Milford Common and we will be applying for an order from the County Court for possession to have them moved on."

There are several sites for 'gypsy' families in the borough, but these tend to cater for established communities, rather than 'transient' traveller families, who move from place to place.

In February the borough council took legal action to remove three caravans from the Doxey Road car park. Earlier this month more than ten caravans parked overnight on a playing field off Holmcroft Road.

I think I read today that they're just the common & garden variety - and will be moved on shortly...

....would you know it, I can't find the article now....

Cheers, @Josh, all is clear. Must say I'm rather impressed by the Newslettter's effort, sending somebody all the way to Milford to take an actual picture when they must know we'd be perfectly happy with one of 'a caravan' from their little picture file. We are not worthy.

Some of those that were moved on from the Doxey Road car park, went towards Eccleshall. Passed a few on my way back from my sisters other day.

Tempted to go and camp there myself, it's such a good spot. Pub, Wimpy, Indian, National Trust property, nice walks, variety of little shops flogging non-essentials...don't tell the Caravan Club or they'll all be there.

Ran into that nobber last week (or at least his son), the doors at Lidl had shut as it was 4:15 on a Sunday but he wasn't impressed. Despite being told they were closed and that they wouldn't serve him he still pushed past the tills and tried to do some shopping.

Sounds like the same one. Bloke in his 30s/40s with a dark beard. Doesn't seem aggressive, just drives stupidly. Undertakes at speed, gets in completely wrong lane, tries to rectify by pushing in when he could just follow everyone else, doesn't like it when thwarted (haha), twat. Or nobber, if preferred.

Ah well it's not like the Council has any other things to spend tax payers money on is it. imagine if it could be spent on education or the elderly on our community. nah, lets waste it repeatedly on moving on those who continuously leave their shite on other people's land and cause general nuisance. Boils ma piss!!!

They don't pay much (if any) tax and always have very new vehicles. Why don't they just stay in hotel?
