Poor old fred, the heart bleeds....

If its all the envronment agencies fault then why is he also scaling back St Georges... why not just move this super dooper leisure complex there, a much better location for it and doesn't involve building on a flood plain.

Basically the tw@ has been hit big time by the recession (welcome to my world) and is spitting the dummy out about it now blaming the environment agency....

Mine, too!

The article shows what a selfish and mindless person Fred Pritchard is.

Fact 1 - Stafford floods - always has and always will

Fact 2 - No matter how good his engineers are they are never going to stop rain from falling from the sky

Fact 3 - If they were to build on a flood plain, but make their building "flood-proof", it would only mean shifting the flooding elsewhere, namely Stafford town centre.

Question 1 - Does Stafford really need another bingo hall and bowling alley?

Question 2 - Would Mr Pritchard cover the cost of extra damage caused by displaced flooding?

Question 3 - Does Mr Pritchard realise that because Dubai is on the Persian Gulf which is connected to the Indian Ocean, it tends not to flood as quickly as the River Sow, and that this comparison makes him look very silly indeed?

Question 4 - Do Forumites think Stafford would be better off without any more of Mr Pritchard's cheap, nasty, money-grabbing, soulless, ugly and otherwise despicable "developments"?

No! We need all this sh!t so that people can spend money to keep the economy going, otherwise the whole world is going to end like the big bang but in reverse and we'll all be dead without any money to spend on tacky overpriced bowling and bingo!

I think it's a shame that the development isn't coming. At the end of the day, a modern bowling alley and an ice rink would add to the town and give employment to people of the town.

Yes, I'm sure the town of Stafford really needs some more shitty minimum wage jobs so we can all go and buy a new car because that's going to solve this big pile of sh!t we have got ourselves in because of the great god capitalism.

Better than sitting on their arses on the dole surely?

I'd say the town needs something like it, yes. Face it, apart from getting pissed what is there to do around here? I wouldn't want it there though.

Good riddance to bad rubbish. Let us hope this will be the end of a bad idea.
You say good news, I say horrifc.

So much for this 'Regeneration plan' - Stafford NEEDS to move forward, I really don't see why there's so much opposition - for people in there early 20's, who are just leaving uni - Stafford offer's nothing and there's no incentive to stick around at all.

I do agree that it wasn't the best idea to build on a flood plain but the whole town's a flood plain...

If they'd build it somewhere else, perhaps somewhere already a brownfield site, I'd have no objections. As it is, the reason people will stay after uni is jobs - and that does not include jobs like a bowling attendant or a ice skate cleaner.

Looks like he's about to submit plans for a new location, which is most likely the old St Georges site as he's scaled back the other development. Saw a poster for the newsletter but its not on their site.

On a side note the plans for stafford college are being resubmitted nest wednesday, after failing the last one (despite planners recommendations). I have a few pics of the artists impressions of the adjustments if anyone is interested.

Found it, is in the e-edition. Looks like it is St Georges, he's scaled back the housing to put in the ice rink I reckon, with the sports facilities near the new riverside to help swing the deal.

I saw 20+ suits giving the college buildings the once over late yesterday afternoon i enquired of councillor Kemp if they would be in favour of the college update going ahead. He just smiled back at me....

That would have been the Development Control committee on a site visit, probably. To be fair to Jack he couldn't give an opinion in advance of the meeting to decide this, as to do so would bar him from voting. Don't blame me, I don't make the rules. Given that the DevCon committee could chose to call an application into Full Council (where this rule still applies) it means Councillors can't say anything in public about any application being discussed until it's decided, which does end up making us look a tad evasive...
