I haven't been yet but messaged them through their facebook account and they read it but didn't bother responding. A shame cos I would take a party there if I knew the basics.
I thought asking if their food was halal and can you take your own alcohol was quite a straight forward question?

I have to say the reviews seem great and the pictures back up the visual side of things, I may have to pop along and give it a try.

But the answer to the question of alcohol has been posyed here already. So you just come across as being a bit of a goady f**ker as they say in other forum circles.

I must admit the first place I would look for such answers would be the establishment themselves as Gilbert has done and not root through various posts on the forum trying to find the answer.

Its only 3 pages long. Its hardly going to take an age. Gilbert assuming is a muslim can rest easy its alcohol free and pork products free, my assumption is potentially halal too.

So is it Reddit or Mumsnet?

Being a nosey wotsit, and the term being a new one on me, I googled "goady f***ker" and after discarding the many links with a caprine association, these were the two English language forums that came up.

@*%$ Me!
I didn't read right through the thread as I briefly browsed at lunch time!
All I needed was a "yes it is and yes you can"

So why you feel the need to be abusive, I don't know? Obviously in your nature. I hope you don't respond, like that, to anybody else who asks a question that's already been asked!

Apologies Gilbert. A weekend of sleep deprivation does not make me a pleasant forumite and I may have read something into your post which wasn’t there. I am still curious though as to why you want to know if the place is Halal? I may have made an incorrect assumption that you are not Muslim. However given the reports this week of staff at a “red tractor approved” farm smashing piglets heads against a wall, I think the argument for halal or otherwise being more humane than the other has gone well and truly out the window.

I don't think all red tractor meet is halal is it so I'm not sure what the connection you're trying to make here?

Ps good of you to apologise to Gilbert, we all get grumpy and misconstrue things at times.

I asked the Halal question to two establisments prior to eating out this weekend.

One place did not bother to answer, presumably because judging by my name on the email they thought like you.

The other place answered politely in the affirmative so that's where we and our houseguests, who are Muslim, went and spent our money on Saturday night.

It doesn't really matter how 'good' a place is. If it can't answer simple questions or provide basic facilities like card payment it isn't going to last long, however some on here might wish it so.

And I sincerely and heartily apologise to Gilbert if I have indeed misread any intent in their message. Maybe I spend too much time on twitter - a message like that on there would definitely be in “goady f**ker” territory - i forget some people have genuine intentions. Although I do stand by the fact anyone who is not Muslim and gives a shit about Halal whilst still eating meat is a walloping hypocrite.

A group of friends regularly go out for a curry, but on talking to a friend who is Muslim and part of the group I thought I would ask the question in a genuine manner.
I am neither goady or racist and still think it's poor not to give a straight answer to a prospective customer.

Re the GF statement - my skin is thick and I'll get you at playtime!
