Clocks moving forward

It appears the Government wants to move our clocks forward by an hour for good. I certainly agree with that.

They will only do it if Scotland agrees

It now appears that the Scots don't want this to happen.

Simple the Scots can have their time and we south of the border can have ours.

The Scots moan about the dark mornings. So why not start later. Schools and offices could open at 10. Farmers can have a lie in?

The Scandinavians manage it.

Clocks change this Sunday morning. An extra hour I believe.

Exactly. It's a simple matter, but some people seem to understand time even less than they can comprehend money..

I'm looking forward to what happens to all the +1 TV channels at the moment the clocks go back. - Mind blowing or what?

Always confused me too, just start later. Spain works on CET despite being mostly west of the meridian, so compared to warsaw in the same time zone are way out, although being further south they have longer days anyway.

Does this mean, however, that when GMT was first conceived it was wrong? Surely we should always have the same amount of light b efore midday as afterwards?

Spain may have more daylight hours than we do in this half of the year, but they have fewer in the 'summer half'. The 'daylight saving' that started in the First World War was largely intended to fool people into making better use of the summer time. It's the changing of the clocks that I most object to - and I have stuck to BST for the last 25 years. Let's just stick to one - and I wouldn't object to it being CET, either.

I ♥ cryptic crosswords
Im more than happy for the Scots to be in a different time zone

Would the same apply in Stoke?

Say by twenty years

My other half was supposed to meet someone at 10am today, they didn't show. They then rang her up a few hours later ranting that she'd not been there, being a pain in the **** generally. Just checked the email they sent while waiting outside, and it clearly shows 11:10. Now I'm a little hungover, but surely if they forgot to put their clocks back they'd have been an hour early, not late?

Even weirder, it was sent from an iphone. Surely all smart phones auto correct for daylight saving time?

I'm sure iphones don't for some strange reason, well there are plenty of complaints about the alarms they set using them not working when the clocks go backwards or forwards.

My iPhone changed time perfectly as it always has.

It's only the glitch in the alarm software which caused problems last year.

Has the time been changed on this site? I've just seen a post which was posted today at 6.33pm and it's only 6.07pm.

The host is in the US and they haven't changed yet - happens every time - can get difficult in March when it goes the other way and can stop you posting more than once an hour.

There is a persistent myth that that all the clocks in the movie are set to 4:20 (although, certainly all the clocks on the wall in the pawn shop are set to 4:20). However, in at least two scenes it is obvious that this is not the case. In the "Bonnie Situation" while Jimmy, Vince and Jules are drinking coffee in the kitchen, the clock clearly reads 8:15. Secondly, when Vince and Jules go to retrieve the briefcase, it is "7:22 in the a.m.". The significance of the time 4:20 is that it is slang for smoking marijuana.

I've only just picked up this thread about the clocks - i know but better late than never and i think i have a real argument to keep lighter nights - it is the most rational and argumentally the most important reason to have more light nights.

I want to stay on my allotment loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooonger
