i have a large coconut palm growing indoors , which desperately needs repotting . What sort of compost should I use? I plan to get a large pot , put a layer of stones on bottom then fill with a mixture of compost, perlite and vermiculite? Tia

You could chuck a bit of sand in the mix, as well. And don't let the pot stand in water for long. You could even raise it up a bit, so that excess water falls away from the compost/roots.

A pot that is wider and shallower than the 'standard' shape wouldn't hurt.

Great thanks , a wider pot is a must , the coconut fills the narrow little pots it's in now and keeps tipping over.

They are not the easiest thing to keep alive for a long time - not really a household plant.
Yeah I brought it a while ago, I brought the wrong plant , I have only today realised it's a coconut palm And that's only because I found it onthe label on the bottom on the plant pot . Iv been doin a bit of reading about it (better late than never) and it defiantly isn't a good choice of plant for me. I'm a house plant killer.
It will have to die soon anyway it's growing too tall for my ceilings lol

They aim for about 100 feet - they won't do that if they're in a pot and indoors, but they'll have a good go, if they don't die first.
