Cooperative Bank Internet Banking.

I have had a total (repetitive) failure with this since last weekend's "upgrade" - I have now found a way past it - if you find yourself locked out and get clearly false message effectively blaming you for it, then PM me and I'll attempt to explain how I got finally round it. I have suggested that they start to tell people the truth, but have little faith in that actually happening. It would have been so much simpler....

Basically, you should be able to get in the old way, but, if you have been secretly migrated without being told, then you have no means to get in, as you don't have the new log-in info, because it hasn't been created. The note implies that you have system issues at your end - cache, etc - this is false, or certainly was in my case.

Like most "upgrades" seem to be, the 'new' system is no better than the old one, just totally different without any added benefit that I can see. Certainly nothing worth all the bother.

Did you try logging in using the old Sort Code/Acct No/Credit Card Number screen? It worked for me, though it did take me a few seconds to work out what was going on.

And I have flown in a helicopter. Thankfully mine didn't crash.

That is what it wouldn't let me do - I had been migrated to the new Username + Password system, but without the luxury having a either username or password in place,

It denied me access using the existing details via that screen, but without admitting that that is what was going on.

After putting in the usual details, it claimed We're sorry you've been logged out. There are a number of reasons why this has occurred - You've not used the service for more than 10 minutes. Your cookies may be disabled in your browser. You may have bookmarked the wrong page. You may have used the browsers' 'Forward', 'Back' or 'Refresh' buttons on the top of your screen. Please click OK to log in. None of which was true.

I suggest sorting the new details out before they do it to you.

I was in the vicinity of an 'event' with a Wessex - the bits go a long way...

Thanks - I've just tried taking your advice but without success. I went to the Logon screen with the Username, clicked on "I don't have a username" expecting it to take me to a screen where I could enter a new username and my account details to link it to, and all it did was display the old Sort Code/Acct No/ Credit Card No screen. It sounds like I may have to wait for the Bank to allocate me an ID and password (by post or email I guess).

Mmm, I had that result when I tried that and it wouldn't even let me 'chat' with them without logging in - all a bit Kafkaesque.

I wouldn't have a lot of faith in them preempting the situation.

I contacted them via Facebook messages and eventually got a phone number where I spoke to a nice person who sorted me out with a one-time password, so I could get in and create my own.

I spoke to them this afternoon and got through to someone quickly but not very helpful. I think the message was to carry on logging on as I have been (sort code and account number) and the facility to set up my own Logon Id would be provided in due course. It sounds a bit arse about face to me.

If I had been able to do that I wouldn't really have minded, but I had the old way turned off before I had a chance to attempt the new way - and the false reasons given were the real problem.

I rang late last night and spoke to someone who did know how to get round it and was 'slightly scathing' about this ludicrous state of affairs.

Have an idea of what you want as a username beforehand - I am now lumbered with a name that is not ideal and I have no way to change it, as far as I can see.

1. Never trust anything with that "smile whilst you're talking" voice, or that contains the word "simply".

2, They have no record of me "reviewing the terms and conditions", because I didn't.

3. They might as well disable comments, they disabled everything else.
