I believe the Tap Steakhouse is only opening in the evenings now.

"Today’s Hours // Open from 5pm today. We’ve decided to close during the day today to ensure we can run service as normal this evening. If you feel healthy and need a break, please support us tonight"

I take this to be the situation going forward, perhaps.

Of course, Coronavirus is frightened of the dark so we’ll all be ok.

The Tap Steakhouse says -

Following today’s announcement from the government, we will be closing The Tap until further notice. BUT THAT DOESN’T MEAN WE ARE GOING ANYWHERE!!
....
If you had a booking with us this evening, our manager will be in touch. Unfortunately all other bookings will be cancelled as per the instructions from the government
....
We WILL still be offering our takeout Sunday lunches, but these will be offered to customers who already had a booking with us for Sunday before we take any new orders
....
We will work on a Tap Takeout menu and post more on that as we get the details together
....
Thank you to everyone who has supported us. Stay tuned & stay safe

I think that quite a few pubs will be trying takeaways, both food and beer. If you know of any put the details up here and we can try to get them some publicity. Will put some advice up here on suitable takeaway containers in a couple of days if pubs are saying bring your own container.

That brought back memories of going to the cottage by the brook with a large jug to get beer for dad!

It is now very complicated. Government speaks with forked tongue. This table seems clear

P5v57p5.jpg

but then the accompanying text says

"Takeaway and delivery facilities should remain open and operational.
This means people can continue to enter premises to access takeaway services, including delivery drivers. Planning regulation will be changed to enable restaurants, cafes and pubs which do not currently offer delivery and hot food takeaway to do so. This will be clearly communicated by the government when in effect. People must not consumer food or drinks on site at restaurants, cafes or pubs whilst waiting for takeaway food,
Those venues offering takeaway or delivery services must not include alcoholic beverages in this list if their license does not already permit."

which suggests that pubs serving takeaway/home delivery food will be permitted to do the same for drinks.

It was working quite well but some were causing problems. Most pubs/cafes/restaurants serving takeaways were behaving sensibly, orders were either taken by phone, online or outside the premises and customers waited outside and at a distance for their orders to be brought out, customers were not milling around inside the premises in close contact. The main troublemakers who have caused problems.

1. Macdonalds and other places who were incapable of changing their ordering system and allowed lots of people inside the premises to order their food.

2. Tim Martin of Wetherspoons who insisted that it was not a problem and his pubs were going to remain open and functioning normally until he was absolutely forced to close. He was a supporter of Boris but I suspect that he has now removed BoJo from his Christmas card list.

3. idiots who bought takeaway food &/or drink then sat around in a group in the vicinity eating & drinking.

Well, not sure what happened there. Lost the text.
Uncomfirmed reports that some pubs in rural areas may be interpreting the rules to allow takeaway drinks to be consumed in the beer garden.

I was thinking that something similar could happen in Victoria park but then remembered most of it is already closed anyway.

Situation changing all the time, but latest statements from local breweries -

Titanic
The good news is you can still buy your favourite Titanic beer. If you live local, come across to our brewery shop (open Mon-Fri 8.30AM to 5.00PM Sat 9.00AM to 3.00PM).If not, ring us on 01782 823447 or buy online via www.titanicbrewery.co.uk/shop/ and we will deliver.
Alternatively, the brewery is visiting each Titanic pub and bar in rotation twice a week giving you the opportunity to buy direct. Check your local pub or bod Facebook page to see when planned visits will take place
Bod - the brewery is visiting us twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday from 7pm to 8:30pm, giving you the opportunity to buy direct.
Your safety is our priority so we will be imposing strict social distancing at every site and will only accept payments by card. We think buying direct is the safest way for everyone to buy our beer.

Lymestone
The online shop remains open and I am manning the phone lines and internet messages at the Brewery. Head on over to www.lymestonebrewery.net to place your order for beer and CRISPS now! We will be in at the brewery from 9 am till 2pm only each day.
Orders placed over the phone or on line will be delivered within 48 hrs to allow us plan routes and reduce time out. All payments must be in advance by card. Strictly a drop and knock service only as we must all stay well.
We aim to deliver all orders within 48 hours, only Abdominal Stoneman and Stone Faced will take longer as these are just brewing nicely now.

Slaters
We have been informed today the shop is allowed to open. On strict social distancing rules. Therefore we have put tape markings out for people and there is only permitted one customer at once in the shop. We want to help keep you safe so if you prefer to stay in the car please call us to pay and place your order on 01785257976 and stay in your car and beep your horn and we can check your order and place your order in the boot for you. You can still order online for delivery. Please use sensible social distancing and if you have any symptoms of Covid-19 please stay home. For anyone wishing to purchase the 4pint jugs these can now be ordered and we can refill from the shop. The shop is open 10-2 Monday to Friday and 10-1 on Saturday. As I hope you can appreciate we are running on skeleton staff and we also have to do the deliveries.

Beowulf
We can deliver cases of bottled beers locally. We don’t have a full range so if you want some please call the brewery on 0771 429 1226 for availability.
We are considering having cask beer to take away from the brewery on Friday and Saturday during the day. This would mean bringing your own, clean containers. Does this sound like a good idea?

Suitable containers for takeaway. Somewhere in the back of a shed you may have a carrykeg like the one pictured, clean it up and it will still be usable. Places are advertising "growlers", an American term which just means a takeaway container for beer, all sorts of materials & designs and cost money. You can use 2 or 4 pint plastic milk bottles, old P.E.T s (lemonade bottles/tonic), or any fizzy plastic bottle with a wrinkly bottom. Rinse them out thoroughly then sanitising with bicarbonate of soda according to the instructions on the packet (It’s cheapest to buy the ‘cleaning’ version not the baking bicarb. One source is Wilko - £1.75 for 500g), Milton or Sodium Bisulfite (Campden tablets or powder).

Uttoxeter Brewery now providing some information -

"We just received a sitrep from our industry body SIBA in relation to the current situation. Although we're unable to open the brewery to the public at all to collect takeaway products we are able to offer beer deliveries to customer's houses. We think this should be sealed products only so our range of craft ale bottles which were brewed and bottled in December are what we can offer. These are filtered and carbonated beers with a long shelf life. We have in stock:

Ghost Patrol Pale 4.5% vol (based on our Question Mark cask ale recipe)
Monster Mash Golden 4.0% vol (based on our Groundbreaker cask ale recipe)
Vamp Party Ruby 4.5% vol (based on our Final Furlong cask ale recipe)

All best served chilled in this balmy weather

All bottles 500ml £2.50 each.
Delivery free within 4 mile radius of brewery.
£1 per mile after that.

We can drop on door steps and collect cash or take contactless card payments from a distance. Also we take advance BACS payments details will be sent when you order. If you'd like to order please contact us by the following means:

Send a message using the messenger link on our Facebook page (preferred).
Text 07789476817
Email contact@uttoxeterbrewingcompany.com

Let us know what you would like to purchase and your address details with post code and we'll get back to you with a delivery day/time."

Does anybody have some sort of definitive list of pub kitchens that are still operating?

I'd like to try and have one meal delivery a week (because i am too poor to do it more than that), and would ideally aim to spread it round a bit so that the moolah was as evenly distributed as is possible.

Who's doing what?
